"I can't believe this." I plopped down on the bench near our lockers. "He had one chance and he blew it. And now he's been kicked out of school." Abby sat down next to me, "I can't even imagine what his mom is gonna say." He was gonna be dead by the time he got home.
Abby put her arm around me and hugged me, "It'll be alright Vivi."
I started to feel warm, "No it won't! He doesn't understand what the drugs are doing to him!" I got up and started pacing around, "They are ruining his life!" I couldn't contain my feelings any more, "But he doesn't see that. He doesn't know what it's doing to him." I started to cry, "He's losing himself to them Abby. To the drugs." He was the only person I was close with other than my mom and Abby, I couldn't loose him. "I'm going to find him." I left my bag at the school and stormed out.
I had completely forgotten the fact that I was roaming downtown New York wearing a crop top and a TINY skirt, so every two seconds there were whistles and hollers. I was used to it so I ignored them and kept an eye out for Jim and Mickey. I had an idea of where they might be. I headed down 26th Avenue and looked around for any sign of the two. As I walked down the sidewalk I heard mumbles coming from around the corner in an alley. I turned to see who it was and there was Jim and Mickey sitting on a log smoking cigarettes.
"Jim!" I ran to over to where he was sitting, "Omg are you ok?"
He looked up, his eyes were red and tired. His face was drained of color. "Hey Vivi. Yeah I'm ok." He sounded beyond tired and so unbelievably high.
"Jim what did you take?"
Mickey started talking, "They took the pills Jim." His voice was the same as Jim's, weary and high.
"We got kicked out of school Mickey." Jim started to sound sad
Mickey started arguing, "They were $40 Jim. And they took 'em."
"We got kicked off the team Mickey. We can't play no more man." Jim started to tear up and Mickey kept ranting about losing the pills. Seeing Jim in pain hurt me. I sat beside him and hugged him. He started crying into my shoulder.
"What are you guys gonna do?" I figured that there answer wouldn't be very thought out but I wanted to know if they had an idea.
Mickey stopped ranting and repainted with, "I don't know I wasn't prepared for this."
"Do you think you'll go home?"
Mickey got up and started pacing, "I don't if we can. We might as well just die."
"Viv what are we gonna do." Jim cried harder.
"I'll help you alright?"
"Ok." He could barely keep it together.
I stood up and helped Jim. "C'mon let's go to my place." These were the times I was glad my mom wasn't home.
Once we got to my apartment I sat Jim and Mickey down on the couch. "You too stay here I'm gonna get you some water." I went to the kitchen to grab them each a glass of water.
I handed them there water, "There ya go. Now please do not spill. At least try not to."
Around 30 minutes later Jim and Mickey were passed out on the couch when I got a call,
"Hello?"
"Hey sweet pea." It was my mom
"Hey mom. What's up?"
"I'm not gonna be home tonight. I'm gonna be at Erin's"
"Ok mom stay safe. Love ya bye."
"Love you too bye." She hung up.
I sat down on the couch next to Jim and turned on the tv while he and Mickey lay sprawled out like dogs , completely passed out. I began to drift off to sleep, and when I awoke Jim and Mickey were gone. I got up from the couch and looked around to see if they left a note or something.
"Shit." They were screwed. They had little money( which they were gonna spend on drugs or some other shit) and no easy contact with anyone. I decided to call Jim's mom to see if she had heard from him.
She picked up the phone, "Who is this?"
"Hey Mrs.Carroll, it's Vivian."
She sighed a sigh of relief, "Oh hey Vivian! What's up?"
"I was wondering if you have seen Jim at all? He was with me last night."
I could hear some background noise, "Actually here he is right now. Would you like to tal-" she paused, she must've seen the way he looked, "I'll call you later." She set the phone down but it didn't hang up. And instead of being normal and hanging up i listened to there conversation.
Jim's mom started to sound worried, "Oh god Jim what happened to you!" She grabbed Jim's face
"I'm fine Mom, nothing happened!"
"Don't lie to me Jim!"
"I'm not fucking lying!" Jim shouted at her
She started to tear up, "Don't talk to me like that!"
"I can talk however I want!" Jim and his mom kept arguing on and off,
"You used-"
"I used to what ma? I used to be such a good little boy who had so much potential. Isn't that right."
"Don't do this to me Jim." His mom was in tears. Jim stormed off, "Fuck off Ma."
She followed, "You know what Jim. I want you out! Leave my house."
She started throwing his clothes at him, "
"Fine I will leave." After Jim said that I hung up. Jim was screwed on his own. I didn't want him to get hurt.
I went to my room and started bawling. I can't just leave him and let him go in his own. I couldn't control the tears. They made there way down my face and onto my bedsheets. The tears were hot streaming down my face. The sadness turned to anger and I screamed into my pillow, "FUCK EVERYONE!!" I obviously didn't mean this but I was angry. This world is a fucked yo place and Jim is gonna die out there with no one to stop him from purchasing shit to poison himself.
