THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEWIt frustrated Suna that recording of live shows are prohibited inside the auditorium. He just wanted to capture everything at the moment; from how she looked beautiful in a sheath gown in his eyes and how she effortlessly moved elegantly whilst producing sweet melodies.
But he can't leave the moment without atleast a small memory reminder, so before he entered the building, he had the voice recorder app in his phone playing the whole time.
It will suffice for the meantime, he said to himself and lazily slouched in his seat with his cheek on his palm.
Brahms, Violin Sonata No. 3 in D Minor. The middle blocker thought. That idiot's stupid for letting me choose the piece she'll be playing today through eenie-meenie.
Suna thinks the piece is just too melancholic for a big classical competition, so it made the brunette wonder if she had other tricks up her sleeve.
Classical music was never his kind of music, he's more like a kid who'd rather listen to Green Day or Sleeping With Sirens 'til 4:00 A.M., but somehow this classical piece the black-haired violinist played soothed him unlike the previous contestants before her.
An involuntary smile reached his face, barely stretching yet noticeable by his friends beside him. While Atsumu was too engrossed in the performance in front him, Osamu noticed Suna's rare expression.
The grey-haired twin tapped his other half, earning a scowl from the blonde but before he could protest for disturbing him, Osamu secretly pointed at Suna, and soon everyone noticed.
"Is Suna actually...smiling?" Ginjima muttered quietly, surprised.
"He is." Akagi nodded, also surprised like his other teammates.
Except for Osamu.
With Shinyya and Suna spending most of their two months and a half together every lunch time in the music room, or conversing in their own private conversations in school, and even staying up late texting each other or sitting under the stars alone together every 2 AM until dawnbreak — unbeknownst to the onigiri loving twin — he knew that some other way, one of them will soon be catching feelings for the other.
He just didn't expect it to be Suna, who was known to be lazy, blunt, stoic, and unmotivated in everything he does, let alone love.
He was snapped out of his thoughts when the violin sounds started getting faster and more complicated than the original notes. Osamu turned back to the front and so did everyone, except Suna who's eyes never left the stage, and watched Shinyya's accompaniment breaking a sweat as he tried to catch up to her.
"The rhythm's becoming complicated!"
"This isn't Brahm's piece anymore..."
"...But it sounds better!"
Murmurs erupted throughout the air, making the Inarizaki Volleyball Team, who had little to no knowledge about classical music competitions, hang their mouths open.
"Are they hating it?" Aran questioned.
"I don't think so..." Kita said, analyzing the performance closely. "I think...they realize that Shinyya-san's creating her own version of the song and loved it."
Suna heard all of it and agreed, knowing Shinyya's plans for today's contest.
She doesn't wanna be a goody-two-shoes and follow every single note detail by detail and played it like the original, it bore her. She wanted to create a better version; even if it means going against the competition's strict criteria.
