Chapter 18

Shai Pov.

I walk down towards the training room to get rid of some stress. I'm stressing over on how I got drunk last night and the last thing I remember was Eric showing up and the rest is a blur. I sigh as I throw a couple of knives at a target, all of them going in the center.

After a while I go over to the punching bags and work on some of the harder fighting moves. Soon a group of three guys walk into the training room. I just ignore their presence as I keep punching and kicking the bag.

I hear them get quiet after a while. I can feel their stares on me and its driving me insane. I huff angrily, whipping the sweat off my forehead as I turn to them. "Do you need something?" I snap and one the guys who has blonde hair smirks at me.

"Your Eric's new little toy right?" Blondie asks and I look at him confused. "Toy." I scoff while crossing my arms. "You know I bet your mother was just doing you a favor because you were slut." The guy next to Blondie says and my eyes widen.

"What the hell are you talking about?!" I exclaim on the verge of tears. "Oh you don't remember." Blondie says and I glare at him. "What?" I say angrily. "That Eric told the whole faction your little secret." He says and I stare at the ground.

"But you know if you want some fun time you can always come to me." I hear Blondie say as I look up to see him in front of me with a smirk. I grit my teeth in rage as tears fill my eyes. Then I slap him across the face making his smirk disappear.

Suddenly he grabs me by the wrist and slams me into the wall. He glares at me as fear fills me. "Hey! Get the hell away from her!" I hear someone shout and Blondie let's me go.

Some guy with tanned skin and black spiky hair pulls him off of me. "Get the hell out here before I report you to Eric!" The guys yells and the group leaves. "Hey are you okay?" The guy says and I shake my head as I let the tears pour out.

I feel the guy wrap his arms around me and I sob into his chest. "Why are you helping me? I don't even know who you are." I choke out through my sobs. "Well my name is Zeke and Eric is one of my best friends and your his girlfriend so I must help you or he will kill me." Zeke says and I chuckle a little at the last part as my sobs stop.

"But I will probably kill him because he didn't tell me about you. I mean he told Four and not his way better best friend. Who does that?!" Zeke complains and I chuckle.

Eric Pov.

I barge into the training room looking for Shai. I walk around and when I reach the punching bags and see Zeke hugging Shai. Shai's back is to me and Zeke looks at me with a glare.

"But I will probably kill him because he didn't tell me about you. I mean he told Four and not his way better best friend. Who does that?!" Zeke says and Shai chuckles.

"Well can you blame me you gossip like a school girl." I say and Shailene's head snaps around to look at me. The sight of her teared stained face causes my heart to shatter.

I sigh heavily as the guilt starts to consume me. "Shailene-" I start but Shai's lips crashing into mine stops me. I instantly kiss her back as I hear Zeke wolf whistle. Shai pulls back and lays her head on my chest as I wrap my arms around her and put my chin on top of her head.

"Everyone knows about us." Shai states and I sigh looking at Zeke. "Shai that's not as bad as the other thing they know." I respond with a guilt filled voice. "It's true?" Zeke asks quietly with a small frown. "Yeah all of it's true." Shai mumbles and Zeke's frown grows bigger.

"And its all my fault." I mumble and Shai pulls away from me and looks me in the eye. "No its not." Shai says and I shake my head. "Yes it is, if I would have been smart I wouldn't have gotten drunk." I say and I don't look at her until she grabs my chin and forces me to look at her.

"Eric listen to me. We're Dauntless not Erudite. So mistakes are aloud to happen. I didn't just leave Erudite to escape my mother, that would make me a coward. I left so I could be myself and most importantly so I could see your blue eyes again." Shailene says. Then she leans in to give me a passionate kiss that I gladly return.
