Chapter 7

Eric Pov.

I open the door and stands there is Max and... Oh my god!

Jeanie.

"What brings you two here?" I ask trying not to let them see Shai. "You were supposed to come to the meeting at five." Max says scolding at me. I look down at my watch and it was six. "Shit." I say under my breath. "Yes. Shit indeed." Max states. "Can we come in?" Jeanie asks. I can't let them see Shai. "Umm.... Give me a minute." I say and quickly shut the door. "Shit,shit,shit!" I say pacing. "Who is it?" Four asks. "Max and-" I look at Shai. "Jeanie." Shai shot up from the sofa, shaking with fear. "I can't let them see Shai so your going to stay in my bedroom in till they leave, okay?" She nods and I lead her to my room and I lock the door behind me so Max nor Jeanie can go in there. I walk to the door with Four behind me so he can leave. I open the door and they stare at Four for a moment. "We were discussing ranks." I try my best to lie. I'm glad their not Candors. They both nod and walk in and Four walks out. I close the door and sigh. "Sorry about the meeting I lost track of time." I say sitting on sofa next to Max. "Anyways we need to discuss something important." Max states and I nod. "Eric, you probably know my daughter Shailene." Jeanie says. As bad as I want to give her a death glare I don't I just nod, staring at the floor. "Well I need you to make her either factionless or kill her." She says. I make eye contact with her and give her that glare I have been holding in. "Because she's Divergent." I freeze and my eyes widen.

Shai Pov.

I lay on Eric's bed, listening to their conversation. "Anyways we need to discuss something important." I hear a deep male voice and I'm guessing it's Max. "Eric, you probably know my daughter Shailene." I hear my so called mother say. I listen closely to the next thing she says. "Well I need you to make her either factionless or kill her." She says. I freeze and tears start to form in my eyes. "Because she's Divergent." Tears stream down my eyes. She wants to kill me her own daughter just because I'm Divergent. How does she even know I'm Divergent?! Oh yeah it's because she's the leader of Erudite oh corse she knows because she knows everything! I start to sob harder but quietly so they don't hear. I'm waiting for Eric's response but I hear nothing. Then I finally hear him say, "No." And I smile he still cares.

Eric Pov.

"No." is all I say. I glance at Max and he just stares at Jeanie in shock. "Eric but the Divergent need to be kil-" I cut her off. "You torchured your daughter enough in Erudite!" I yell standing from the sofa. "I have no idea what your talking about." She says. But I can tell she's lying. "But that's the thing Jeanie, you do. I may not be Candor but I know when someone is lying to me." She sits there in fear. "Now get the hell out of here and don't come back!" I yell pointing at the door. "Eric stop this nonsense." Max yells. "Max, Shai her daughter was sexually abused by her!" I shout. "Where did you hear that from it's probably just a rumor." Jeanie says. "Because she told me." I state, I grit my teeth. "Now get the hell out of here, now!" She rises from her seat and makes her way to the door. She opens the door but before she walks out she says. "If you won't kill her then I will some how." She snaps and slams the door behind her. I look at Max, he stares at me with a scowl. "What the fuck was that!" He yells at me. "Do you think she should kill her own Daughter just because she's Divergent?!" I ask harshly. "No, but you don't need to make up a story that she was abused just to get a point!" He snaps at me. "I said it because it is true!" I snap. He just shakes his head and stands and walks to the door and walks out with the door slamming behind him.

I let out a frustrated sigh. Then I remember Shai is still in my room. I knock on my bedroom door. "Shai their gone you can come out now." She unlocks the door and walks out there are tears streaming from her eyes. I kinda felt guiltily for telling Max her secret. "Listen I'm sorry I told Max it just came out of my mouth." I say. "Its okay but that's not why I'm crying." She says and I'm confused. "What if she try's to kill me?" She says sobbing. I pull her into my chest and she sobs even harder. I stroke her hair and tell 'it's going to be okay' over and over again. "Do you want to go back to the dorms?" I ask and she shakes her head. I sigh. "You can stay here, I'll sleep on the sofa." I say gently. "No I'll sleep on the sofa, this is your apartment." She says. "I'll be fine on the sofa. You are sleeping on the bed." I say sternly. She just nods her head in my chest. Then I slowly place my lips on her head. I kiss her forehead for a while. Then I take her to my room and give her one of my Tshirts for her to sleep in. When she gets it on she lays in the bed. Before I walk out she grabs my wrist. "Will you stay with me,please?" She asks. My heart starts to race. "Of course." I say and climb in the bed with her. She snuggles into my chest and I wrap her in my arms protectively. Then I finally drift off into a deep sleep.

-Is it just me or is this probably the sweetest chapter yet?! Eric is starting to show her feelings!! And Shai is too!
