Chapter 12

Shai Pov.

He kissed me! Eric kisses me! I can't believe he actually feels that way about me!

I can't keep the smile that's wants to form on my face away. I lay my head on his shoulder and he just stares at me with a small smile of his own.

After a while I yawn and start to snuggle closer to Eric. "Tired?" He asks me and I nod.

"Sleep. Nobody's getting their results in till tomorrow because Peter is being cut." Eric says and I smile at him. "Okay." I say and give him one last passionate kiss.

When we pull apart I lay down and snuggle into his pillow. I close my eyes and hear him get up while closing the door softly. And soon enough sleep take over me.

Eric Pov.

I close the door of my apartment door and head strait to Max's office. When I reach his door I walk strait in and Max looks up from his papers.

"What is it Eric?" Max questions. "Two of our newbies need to be cut and one of our Dauntless members." I state and Max stops writing and his head snaps up at him. "Why?" Max asks and then I start explaining everything to him that happened but not the whole kissing Shai part.

"Who was the third boy?" Max asks after I explain. I shrug and he nods. "And I'm guessing Shai is at your apartment." Max says and I nod once.

Shai Pov.

I wake up screaming from my nightmare. I had a nightmare about what would have happened if Eric didn't find me.

Tears stream out of my eyes as I hug my knees close to my chest. Suddenly the door swings open and a worried Eric stands in the doorway.

I hear him walk towards me and place a hand on my back. I flinch and scurry off the bed. "Stay away from me!" I shout and a flash of hurt goes over Eric's eyes.

"Shailene it's just me, Eric. I'm not going to hurt you. Never." He says softly and I start to relax. He slowly walks towards me and wraps arms around me. I stiffen a little but soon relax.

"Sorry." I whisper into his chest. "Don't be." He whispers into my ear that send chills down my spine. We stand there in silence for awhile still in our embrace.

"So what's going to happen." I ask breaking the silence. "Peter is being cut but I couldn't get Max to cut Drew and that other guy." Eric explains and I nod slowly.

"Shai?" Eric whispers. "Hmm?" I respond and he looks down at me. "I'm not going to let anyone do that to you again. I promise." Eric says sternly. I smile and crash my lips into his.
