The crack of Draco and Narcissa apparating just outside the gates of Hogwarts was loud enough to make Filch's mangy little cat jump and scurry behind his disgusting unwashed robes.

"Aye watch where you're landing boy, you could've stepped on her!"

What a shame is wasn't Professor McGonnagall.

"Where is Minerva? She is expecting us" Narcissa demanded, her impatience showing in her tone.

"She had to see to an issue with another student, there she is now."

"My apologies Narcissa, Ms. Greengrass had some last minute travel changes that needed my attention," Professor McGonagall gestured toward the girl standing a few feet away. "Do you mind if I have a private word with you before you go? It'll only be a moment."

Narcissa nods her head and the two women step off to the side as McGonagall muttered a quick muffliato around them.

Draco examined the girl accompanying McGonagall. She looks familiar, they might've had some classes together before but Draco doesn't know her name. He didn't really care to learn names outside his own social circle. She has long, shiny black hair framing her diamond shaped face splattered with freckles, running down her back and accentuating her slim curves. She has light olive skin, suggesting maybe a Spanish ancestry somewhere in her lineage, and she looks to be about 5'3'' , although the death glare she's giving Draco through her hooded hazel eyes adds about a foot to her overall presence.

What the fuck is up this yat's knickers?

He threw a cold look right back at her as Narcissa and McGonagall made their way back to them.

"Goodbye Draco. I'll see you at winter recess, don't make this harder on yourself than needs be." Narcissa disapparated with a swift crack, without so much as hugging Draco goodbye, not that he expected it nor would have welcomed it. Not big on sentiments their family.

"Very well Mr. Malfoy, Ms. Greengrass, I'll have the house elves take your belongings to the dormitories. You've already missed the majority of the Welcome Feast so you two will follow Mr. Filch to my office and wait there while I make my welcome speech."

With that, she morphed into her usual feline form and bounded off in the direction of the Great Hall, leaving them with a grumpy Filch and Mrs. Norris.

He led them toward the castle holding up the lamplight, pausing every hundred yards to relight the candle with a match until it annoyed Draco.

" Parvulus incendio" he said waving his wand toward the candle , lighting it. "stupid squib," he muttered under his breath, continuing their way into the castle.

When they reached the Headmaster's office, they took seats in the cushioned chairs at the front of the desk as Filch went to chase Peeves out of the corridor.

The office looked relatively the same as it did before Dumbledore died, the only additions being small accents and plants, as well as a picture of what must be her nieces and nephews. She even keeps the bowl of lemon tart sweets on the corner of her desk.

"I remember you."

Draco's thought are interrupted by the break in silence, and he looks up to see the girl staring at him, making him uneasy.

"You're the one who let Slytherin out of the dungeons during the fight," she says bluntly, not hinting at any emotion while maintaining a poker face. " I remember you."

"Okay? What's it to you?" he retorts, uncomfortable with where this was going.

" I was there, you saved me and my sister Daphne, she's from your year. Or I guess was your year. I suppose now technically you're in my year which is a tad confusing-"
