Chapter 2: Think About Anything Else

No matter what class I went to, no matter how I tried, I couldn't stop thinking about Rosalina. I didn't know what to do.

It didn't help that she was in a few of my classes. Science, Social Studies, and Math.

I went to my before-the-final class of the day.

The choir teacher welcomed the students. She told us to let out a deep breath, then to sing a scale of notes.

When I opened my mouth, a horrible sounding, off-key mess came out. This was definitely not my day.

My final class was art. My teacher, Shadow Mario Senior and his big paintbrush, told us to free draw or read for the day.

As much as I loved to draw, I was going to read, in desperate attempt to get my mind thinking on other things, besides Rosalina.

By the end of class, I had only read three pages, because she was on my mind.

I went to my locker and spun in the combination. When it opened, I pulled out my backpack.

Slinging it over my right shoulder, I made way for the bus.

I got onto bus 92, and when I got halfway down the aisle, the unimaginable happened.

Luigi was in one seat, of course, but then in the seat right behind him, there was Rosalina with a vacant seat next to her. I had to choose between my best friend and a beautiful girl.

I closed my eyes and sat where I believed I should've.

I found myself sitting next to Rosalina.

"Hi, Rosalina." I said, nervously.

"Hello." she started. "I just want to thank you for standing up for me in class."

Rosalina hugged me tightly.

"I...will always be there for you." I said.

She smiled, and it felt like all the stars in sky lit up.

My stop was one of the first, so I had to go almost immediately.

"Bye!" Rosalina said.

"See you tomorrow." I replied.

I stepped off the bus, and took a deep breath before I walked up to my front door.

Maybe starting my homework will get Rosalina off of my mind.

"Hey bud, how was your first day?" my mom asked.

I paused. "Well...interesting."

"How?"

"I think a girl likes me."

"Really?!"

My mom flips out over stuff like this.

"I'm not sure. I think so."

"Oh, what's her name???"

"Rosalina..." I mumbled.

"That's so adorable!" she shouted.

"Mom, stop."

She left the room to go finish the dishes.

It took me about 20 minutes to do my homework. I was going to call my friend Link to ask what he would in my shoes about this girl problem.

I tapped Link's contact and called him.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Link?"

"Oh hi. What's up?"

"I have...girl problems."

"With who?"

"That girl Rosalina." I said quietly.

"What's the problem?" Link asked.

"Well, I like her, and I think she likes me back, but I don't know what to do."

"I think I have an idea."

"What is it?? Please tell me!"

"Hear me out on this one."

"Ok fine! Just tell me!"

"Ask her to go on a date."
