Dark Potions and Rituals (Collected by Salazar Slytherin)

The Regeneration Potion

In my adventures around the world in search for dark potions, there was none as dark as the regeneration potion. I had stumbled upon the potion in different areas of magic, small and large around the world. It is a dark piece of magic and I must advise anyone never to ever attempt this potion as it has disastrous effects on the mind.

Based on my research, the potion was created by a potioneer named Vale Snowpeer. He was the servant of a dark wizard named Xumarim, who had dabbled into another piece of dark magic called horcruxes. He had required Snowpeer to make a potion to make his body corporeal once more. He has made it possible for specters and ghosts to make the potion work. It took Snowpeer around two years to create the potion and had succeeded, allowing Xumarim to return to corporeal form and wreck havoc in the mainland until his death and defeat at the hands of the combined wizards.

To create the potion, one must need a large cauldron and water half fill. Then, add the hair of a thestral and the eye of a newt, unicorn blood must also be added  and stir for an hour to create the base liquid. Then to make the final potion- follow the following format:

- Bone, unknowingly taken from the father,
- Blood of the enemy, unwillingly/unknowingly taken
- Flesh from the servant, willingly given

Once, collected, stir for another minute before the specter or spirit may enter the cauldron to become corporeal once more.

The potion, unlike others, is connected to magic itself. The materials must be strong in magic for the potion to work. The most important part of the potion are the three last ingredients that would allow the wizard to become corporeal. If something in the ingredients should go wrong, the consequences will be severe.

For example, the case of Maxwell Strix. He was tasked to create the potion itself and bring back the Lord of his house. He did every part of the potion correctly but it was not his knowledge that an enemy of his Lord who had knowledge of the ritual took the bones of the father from the grave and replaced it with bones of a cow transfigured as human bones. Upon the rituals completion, the cauldron exploded and the Lord came out looking like a cow and had lost his magic, making him a squib.

The Strix case is a unique case. A lesson in itself, muggle animals such as cows, pigs, or dogs will taint the magic within the potion. The bone of the father takes up around 60% of the ritual as the bone is the main source of life and corporealism with the person. If the person in the ritual would be placed in the cauldron with the failed potion, the tainted magic within the cauldron would counteract the magic of the person and immediately kill him as the foreign magic would overturn his current life force and cut it.

If a person is strong in blood or magic, his/her magic will fight against the counteracting tainted magic. However, by the time he becomes corporeal he would have merged his blood with tainted blood combining his appearance with whatever the bone source was and would have no magic left in his blood that he would just be a squib.
