Red the letter you sent me

What it really means

Leaves after leaves, falling down the streets

No more love

No more heat

Left me in the dark, heart feeling stark

Orange you glad you tore it apart

"Not gonna lie...you had me in the first half", Gahyeon snorted as she read the lyrics on my laptop. "But why add the last part? The entire mood is dead because of that tragic ass pun"

I pouted, knowing she was right. I get too caught up in colors sometimes that it literally finds itself in my everyday life where it necessarily doesn't need to be. Like now, with the few lines of poetry that Gahyeon had asked me days ago to do so she wouldn't fail another semester of speech class.

"W-well...", there was nothing to say. I couldn't defend myself.

Gahyeon - 👍

Y/N - 👎

Her lil self spun around on my barstool, giggling like some child that got whatever they wanted.

"Don't take it the wrong way, bestfriend", she leaned over the counter and pinched my cheeks, "I'm always amazed by that brain of yours, even tho it's heavily infested by memes, the teletubbies, and your weird kink to be the best bartender the world has ever seen"

"First of all, me wanting to be the best bartender isn't a kink. It's a dream. Thank YOU very much", I tried to sound serious, but the smile on my lips wouldn't go away.

Gahyeon snorted.

Then we both ended up laughing.

I dunno how she does it, a part of me always had this weirdly, unsettled battle between wanting to go to college, and not going to college.

Of course, college isn't for everyone. And it definitely isn't for me, at least not for what I'm trying to do with my life. But Gahyeon's a different story. The shorty wants to be just like her mother, a RN (registered nurse), who somehow finds the love of her life after reviving them from a near death experience or cardiac arrest.

Her words. Not mines.

"Thanks again Y/N!", the helmet flew off my head and a warm kiss pressed my cheek, causing me to grimace. Her arms pulled me in a hug before she hopped off my bike. "No need to pick me up after class, ma and pa are coming over for dinner tonight", she grinned, tossing me her helmet.

I pulled down my visor, gave the bike a lil thrust, and revved until smoke curled behind me.

"Give them my salutations", a few students stared as they went by. That's right, this bike is a beauty, ain't it?, I thought to myself when one of them whistled and threw me a thumbs up.

I reciprocated his gesture with a nod and smile. Although... he couldn't see my smile...because of this helmet, obviously.

"Show. Off!", my bestfriend shouted as she walked away, pink backpack and all. The tone in her voice playful, like always.
