Y/N'S POV:

Breakfast eventually ended and I started walking to potions with Neville. "How was breakfast?" Neville asked. "It was okay, Parkinson tried to say me and Tom shagged last night because she overheard what I had told you, but I got her to keep her mouth shut," I smiled. "How was yours?" "Oh, um it was good," Neville smiled back as we entered the potions classroom.

Me and Neville sat next to each other which caused a strange look from Professor Snape. "A Gryffindor and Slytherin?" Snape almost laughed. Should've seen this coming.

"You know me and Neville have been best friends since first year professor," I explained. "No excuses, go sit by a Slytherin y/l/n," Snape eyed me. "But-," "Now," He demanded, cutting me off.

I soon stood up from my seat giving Neville an apologetic look. Walking away from his table, I scanned the room to see if there were any open spots, there was one, and it was with Tom.

I sighed and started walking towards his table, I sat down slowly, causing him to look at me weirdly but he just ignored me.

Class then started, everything Snape was teaching us I already knew about since I studied it last year, Tom seemed to know it already as well as he seemed to pretend he was paying attention, looking at and hearing Snape but not actually listening to him.

I found him quite strange, he was quiet and very smart, but when you actually talk to him he seemed like a totally different person, not completely as he talked quietly, but still different. He's very emotionless, he shows little to no emotion so I can never read his expressions, except anger that is, because it seems that that's the only emotion he can show.

"Y/l/n, are you just going to stare at Riddle all day or are you actually going to pay attention?" I heard Snape ask and my head snapped towards him, I didn't even notice I was staring at Tom. "Sorry professor, I was just zoning out," I said. "I expect more from you y/l/n, you are head girl after all, pay attention," Snape said, going back to the lesson after I nodded.

I then looked down at my hands, what's going on with me? I can't get Tom out of my head, especially after what happened last night. I saw him staring at me from the corner of my eye so I looked at him.

"What?" I whispered. "Why aren't you paying attention?" Tom asked, it didn't even sound like a question. "Why aren't you?" I eyed him. "Because I already know all of this," Tom rolled his eyes. "So do I Riddle," I rolled my eyes back at him.

I looked back down when I noticed that he wasn't going to talk anymore, but when I looked down, I couldn't help but look at his hands that were fidgeting with one another. He was wearing six metal rings, three on each hand.

I then looked at my hands that were also full of rings, I absolutely loved jewelry, but not the expensive kind that rich pureblood's wore, just plain, metal jewelry.

I decided to at least pretend I was paying attention like Tom was, like Snape said, I was head girl after all. I couldn't lose that role so soon into the year, especially the first school day back.

After potions I got up from my seat, I walked over to Neville and walked to the defense against the dark arts classroom with him, we had all of our classes together, but it was hard to be near each other since we're expected to hate one another, and now that I was head girl, I basically had to go by that stereotype and/or rule all year.

As we entered the classroom we were greeted by Remus Lupin, he's been our teacher for a while but we never called him professor as he didn't like it or prefer it.

"Welcome back class! I hope you all had a wonderful summer," Remus smiled, he then walked over to me and hugged me tightly. "I missed you y/l/n." "I missed you too Remus," I smiled and hugged him back. Remus was like a father figure to me, when I didn't have my parents he was here, he was basically my school father and I loved it. It may seem weird that me, a Slytherin, is a daughter figure to him who was a Gryffindor but he's always told me our house shouldn't define us in any bad way.

"Congratulations on getting head girl by the way, I'm so proud of you," He smiled. "Thank you," I smiled back.

Remus then gave me some chocolate as he always did, he walked up to the front of the class and started teaching the lesson. "Want some? I can't eat all of this by myself," I laughed, motioning towards the chocolate that was rather large. "Yes please," Neville said, putting his hand out for me to put some of the chocolate in. I split the chocolate in half, the sizes being equal so it would be fair. I then handed Neville the chocolate and he thanked me.
