After dinner, we were sent back to our dorms, presumably for the professors to prepare for the announcement.

Not a word was exchanged between Cedric and I at our dorms. Finally, a prefect from Hufflepuff knocks on our door. "Professor Dumbledore wants everyone by the dining hall as soon as possible," he shouts. Soon we hear his footsteps trail off as he struts down the hallway.

Cedric and I jolt up and grab our wands from the bedside. I start towards the door when Cedric grabs my wrist.

"Listen to me Dais, whatever happens, we're gonna be fine, okay?" he reassures. He places both of his hands on my shoulders and tries to smile.

"Okay," I reply, lowly. Cedric pulls me close and places a peck on my forehead, then walks in front of me towards the door. I follow behind him.

Around us, other students are emerging from their dormitories. I keep my gaze down, there's no point in socializing. Cedric on the other hand, he can never keep his "handsome" mouth shut. Students of all ages conversed with him over the tournament, which only made my anxiety rise. I wanted to avoid the subject, but I knew that this point that wasn't possible.

We finally make our way to the doors of the hall. All four houses along with Durmstrang and Beauxbatons' students were all crammed into the hallways.

The gibber gabber from the students around me made me want to rip my ears out. I hated this damn competition- what was the point of it?

The hall doors began to creak open, and soon students around us started flooding in. I stood by Ced's side, trying not to get lost in the storm of kids.

As we make our way to our tables, the great clock structs 9:00 o'clock. Teachers and students run around in a hustle to their seats, eager for champion selections.

"Sit down, please," Dumbledore announces through the crowd. Commotion still active, everyone, including Cedric and I, take our seats. Everyone's heads turn to our head master.

"Now the moment you've all been waiting for," he shouts, his words echoing off the old castle structure, "the champion selection!"

At instant, Dumbledore whips around to the tables, his right hand up. He glides his arm across the room, dimming the lights. Dumbledore makes his way to the goblet, right arm still raised.

Slightly shaking, he presses his old hands against the goblet, his left hand joining the right. Every student; silent.

Dumbledore slowly backs away from the goblet, when suddenly the flame that was once burning blue, turns to a shade of red. Everyone slightly jerks at the sudden change.

A small piece of parchment comes rocketing out of the goblet at the fire glows blue once again. As the paper withers down, closer to the surface, Dumbledore grasps it with one hand.

He examines the parchment and says, "The Durmstrang champion is, Victor Krum!" Cheering fills the halls as Victor and his friends celebrate. I immediately look to Hermione, and she's cheering as well. I had nearly forgotten about their awkward encounter the other day.

Victor comes down from his stands and proceeds to shake Dumbledore's hand. Professor motions him to the back of the room where he'll wait for the rest of the champions.

Within moments, the goblet glows red once again, and another piece of parchment fires from the flames.

"The champion for Beauxbatons, is Fleur Delacour," Dumbledore announces.
