𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐙𝐄𝐍. they stumbled into the abandoned grocery store, hopping over scattered canned foods and spilled cereals.
jennie whooped, bathing the store in a warm cream light with a white switch on the wall. she hopped up onto the mint counter of the mini cafe, swinging her legs. she sighed. "i haven't been here in forever."
how long have they been stuck here?
from the way they spoke, it seemed to lisa that they had been here for a long time. she would never know, because the girls themselves had lost track.
jisoo had drifted towards the sweets section, and was sorting through the array of desserts they had. should they bake cakes together? or maybe cookies?
she chose a box with "birthday cake mix" written across the front, a blown up, saturated rainbow cake pictured, and placed it in her canvas bag.
lisa grabbed some more chips (she liked barbecue quite a lot, it seemed) even though they already had a few bags in the car. the more the merrier, right?
rosé had filled a giant bag of caramel popcorn from the popcorn machine and was sitting next to jennie on the counter.
the girls stuffed jisoo's bag until it was almost overflowing with goods, then gathered near the cafe at the front of the store.
the four of them sat up on the counter, admiring the calm yet chaotic scene before them. it was a beautiful mess to them.
suddenly, jennie felt something hit her cheek, and turned to glare at her attacker, who was caught holding a full handful of popcorn in her fist.
"rosé!! you'll regret this!!!" she yelled and attempted to make a scary expression, which just ended up being very cute, waving her fists in the air and shaking her head.
and chaos ensued. soon popcorn littered the whole shop, as well as their clothes. bouts of laughter and screams erupted occasionally as the girls continued their childish fight.
jisoo laughed, heart smile in full bloom, and brushed popcorn pieces from her skirt. she held her hands up to her face, caught some popcorn thrown by lisa, and stuffed it into her mouth.
she giggled with her cheeks puffed, then swallowed the sweet caramel popcorn.
"come on, let's get a real meal to eat. i'm hungry." she rubbed her belly and patted it.
the others slid off the counter and nodded excitedly, picking out popcorn from their hair and clothes as well.
they left the isolated grocery store filled and trashed with popcorn, knowing that it would stay as they left it.
occasionally, food would be restocked on its own, but for the most part things in this world remained the same.
as the group walked past a frozen clock, a feeling overcame lisa. the feeling was a mixture of excitement and a deep sadness, at the fact that the four of them were the base of this world, as weird and boundless as it was, and that their actions literally defined its existence. but also at the fact that they were alone.
"lisa? are you coming?" jennie had turned back to check on lisa, who hadn't realized she was standing there, frozen in place.
jennie jogged back to the double doors to grab lisa's hand, then smiled knowingly. "let's go."
