"Y'all," Haylee sighed, "I'm bored. Somebody mess with Earth."
"We're not messing with Earth again just because you're bored, Haylee."
"I think it's a perfectly good reason to mess with Earth."
"No," Princey said strictly, "it isn't."
Haylee scowled. "You're boring."
Princey smirked as he went back to his book while Haylee walked out of the library in a huff. Just as she left, Fern entered. They looked at Princey.
"What's her deal?" they asked curiously, picking up a nearby book.
"She wants to fuck around with Earth again. And I said no," he laughed.
Fern smiled and sat down in the armchair across from him. If there was one thing Haylee had done too much of in the last year, it was fuck with Earth. It earned them all a pretty bad lecture from the man upstairs.
"So," Princey started, "I was thinking-"
"You're thinking again?" Tiffany interrupted. "That can't be good."
Princey glared as she laughed and sat down on the sofa next to him.
"As I was saying, Fern, I've been thinking. Since Madison left, that means we'll be needing someone to fill her position. I figured you might want to take up the mantle?"
"Whoa, really? I mean, are you sure?"
He shrugged. "Everyone else has pretty big enough jobs, so we can't do it. Besides, this means someone trustworthy will be able to keep Haylee from wreaking havoc... again."
"Yeah, she's already gotten us in enough trouble," Tiffany added. "You're smart, responsible, and - I was gonna say less chaotic than Haylee but that's a lie so -"
"Alright, alright I'll do it. When do I start?"
"Well now's good. C'mon, I'll help you get started."
The trio left the rest of the group (minus Haylee, who was still sulking) in the library and headed for the Earth's control room. The room was located in the center of the Realms across from the library. In there was a large screen of the planet, an equally large control panel, and double doors to the side leading to the armory. Little light illuminated the room, giving it the feel of being in an empty movie theater.
"Y'know, this place reminds me of my room," Fern joked. "I think I'll feel right at home here."
Tiffany snickered as Princey stepped up to the panel.
"Right. Well, this as you can see is the control panel for Earth. Now, a few things. One, no plagues. We only get one per century. Two, wars are a no-go. The humans have to start those on their own, but when they do, feel free to fuck with them. And three, just, don't kill the entire human race, okay? Any questions?"
Just as Fern was going to reply, they were interrupted by Tiffany.
"Wow, this job sounds boring as Hell." They both looked over to where her voice came from and found her wearing a Ghostface costume.
"Honey, what the fuck are you doing?" Princey asked frantically.
"Well, I saw this ramp and I wanted to know where it went so naturally I followed it, and I found this back room where, apparently, we keep a bunch of cool shit. Come look!"
Princey exchanged a quick look with Fern before ultimately following his girlfriend to this supposed room. Sure enough, they spotted the ramp she mentioned, which was so far back in the room they hadn't even noticed it. The ramp was lengthy and twisted twice before they came across the door. Behind it was a small room with plastic bins and a clothing rack filled with costumes and props.
"Dude, I have no memory of this being here," Princey said, opening up one of the bins. Fern followed his lead and began opening up another.
"Me either, " they added. "You think maybe Madison left this behind?"
"Doesn't seem like the type of stuff she'd have in the first place," Tiffany replied. She was looking through the clothing rack. "Ooh, look Princey! There's a cape, like the kind that kings wear!"
"Say less." He snatched the purple cape from her hands and immediately put it on, dramatically throwing it up behind him. The others clapped.
"Very swag Princey," Fern complimented.
"Hot," Tiffany agreed.
Princey grinned. "Thank you, you're too kind. Hey, we should take some of this stuff back to the library for the others."
Tiffany jumped happily. "Oh my God, yeah! Fern, help me carry some of this please!"
The three of them grabbed as many props and costumes as they could carry and set off for the library, which was like a ten step walk. They came barreling through the library doors and dropped the goods on the light-green sofa. The others came over curiously to see what was going on.
"Whoa what's all this?" Bri asked, immediately looking through all the costumes. "Where'd you guys get these?"
"Some kind of closet in the control room. Tiff found it."
"Oh my God we should play dress up!" Bri yelled excitedly. "Please?"
"Sure, why not?"
As Gema and Clarissa looked gently through the costumes, talking happily between themselves, Brianna tore through the pile to find a prop for her costume, which she had decided on wearing a pair of glittery, pink fairy wings. Princey added a large crown to go with his cape, while Tiffany helped Fern find a costume.
In the end, Gema and Clarissa decided on a pair of matching medieval-style dresses with Fern in shining plastic knight armor. Brianna had found a star-shaped wand and tiara to go with the wings, while Princey and Tiffany slapped a jester's hat on Haylee, who had eventually rejoined the group.
"We look awesome!" Bri said happily. "But, now that we're all in costume, what are we gonna do?"
"Well I'm going back to my Realm," Haylee responded, annoyed and tossing her hat back in the pile of costumes. "Have fun."
With that, she vanished into thin air, having teleported to Hell. Princey scoffed.
"Remind me again why she's the only one with powers like that?"
