The next morning, Alfred awoke emotionless and stern. It was a low mood that Alfred was experiencing, very much like how he felt after his mother's passing. Considering the way he felt, Arthur didn't want to try to cheer him up in case he'd get annoyed at him despite Alfred telling him he wouldn't get angry for comforting him. Arthur ended up helping Alfred before he went along with his morning duties.
It seemed to be just like any other day. The same routine but one Arthur found enjoyable as his service with the royals was more forgiving and understanding than previous masters before them. This would've been the case but Arthur's focus was caught off track by a jingle of a bell below the plague that read "King's Quarters". The servant raised an eyebrow suspiciously, as the king rarely needed the servant's service unless it was important. Arthur set aside his task and hurried to the king's quarters in record time, passing Matthew on the way. The young man glanced by before looking on worried.
Arthur knocked 4 times before being given permission to enter. "Come in." the king called and the servant promptly enters into the room. Arthur closes the door behind before approaching the king. "You wanted to see me, your majesty?" He asked cautiously as the old man smiled and feebly rose from the chair. "Yes, I did Arthur." He answered in a calm tone as he slowly advanced towards the servant. "If I understand correctly, you have been adjusting here physically but not emotionally, is this true?" He asked. Arthur gulped in response and fidgeted quietly. "In a way, yes sir..." He whispered just enough to hear the servant. The king sighed in response, thinking carefully for what to say next. "That is indeed a bit of a problem..." He thought to himself before turning his attention back to Arthur. "Please answer my question honestly. Would the reason behind your anxious behaviour be in relation to your last master?" He asked with a straight tone this time. Arthur looked to the king before rethinking back to the previous conversation with him.
"Yes... I've been struggling to sleep a few nights in a row and my memories seem to keep repeating themselves, including...that..."Arthur answered calmly. The king sighed as we slowly walked towards the windows. The king was pondering on his next question to avoid the servant breaking down again. "You haven't told my son, have you?" He asked. Arthur shaked his head. "I simply couldn't sire, every time I tried I just got emotional..." He answered. The king nodded before turning towards him.
"In all honesty, it's better you didn't tell him." He said, making Arthur twitch. "Sire?" The servant asked confused. The king continued. "My son is a fragile soul and still hasn't overcome the passing of his mother. I fear that his mind will go down a dark path and end up causing damage to everything around him. I do not want him to be that way when he takes the throne. Luckily for you, it seems the forest has answered to you." He said and points to Arthur's left hand. Arthur looked down to the hand and back up to the king. "How did you know about that?" He asked. The king smiled. "My son Matthew is very observant and told me about it to his own accord. You have a purpose that's the most important to this castle then everyone elses. Unfortunately that is one you'd have to find for yourself. I'm sure a sign will come to you." He said.
"A sign...?" Arthur thought to himself. The king went back to his desk. "Anywho, you better return to your duties. Please keep an eye on Alfred and not a word about the incident with your previous master to him." The king requested. Arthur didn't talkback or hestitate and bowed towards the king before leaving the room.
The servant did a handful of duties before proceeding to the gates towards the forest. He looked back before slowly opening the gate. As he closed it behind him, he thought he heard a snap somewhere. He looked back to check before turning towards to forest but was startled by a familiar face and build. It was his master with his sandy blond hair and blue eyes. He was giving a suspicious look as if he caught Arthur doing something he shouldn't be. Arthur yelped for a second before breathing heavy.
