Kat laughed, but it wasn’t genuine. Her laughter was the kind of high pitched, sarcastic laughter that is usually at someone elses expense. Cecilia grew annoyed. She had already had enough of people that week, and did not need Kat’s excess bullshit too.
“Look, just go meet them at Sonny’s diner at 5. Their names are Ella, John, George, and Anastasia. If any one of them dies, you will be in serious trouble, do you hear me? Now, if you don’t mind, I have work to do.” Kat smiled as she got up, took the file, and walked away. Cecilia narrowed her eyes. Whenever Kat smiled, it was never good. “Go back, meet the brats at 5, and don’t kill them, got it.” As she left, she turned her head around, crimson hair swishing. “And Cecilia,” she added, Kat then stomped one or her heavy black combat boots on the floor. This tiny disturbance caused the entire mountain of papers on her desk to collapsed, flooding the floor. Kat smirked as she walked down the hallway towards the stairs.
Cecilia sighed, looking at the heap of papers now scattered all across the ground. It was going to be a long day. She looked back at the pictures scattered on the floor. Ella, Anastasia, John and George. They were all rejects of various teams. George was too independent. John was no use to anyone at all, he couldn’t fight, wasn’t diplomatic, or even a team player. Anastasia was too shy and would rather run than fight. Last of all, Ella. She was just a handful. She refused to take orders or pick up an angel sword. Cecilia gathered up armfuls of paper and dumped them on her desk. She pushed another pile of papers on top of the pictures. If anyone could make those four into a team, it would be Kat. She was the only one who would be stubborn enough to put these people together.
Cecilia’s secretary, Maggie knocked on the door. She had fluffy blonde hair that was usually pulled back into a bun. Her blue eyes were covered with skinny glasses. “You have a message from Arnold Green.” Cecilia groaned as Maggie rushed over to pick up her paperwork. “Tell Arnold whatever Kat did I’ll pay for, and she is now on a mission, so there will be no cleanup.” Maggie nodded as she picked up the files scattered all over the floors. “I’ll inform him once I finish cleaning up.” Cecilia waved the girl off. “Just go home, I’ll clean up.” Maggie stood up, pushing her glasses back up onto the bridge of her nose. “Are you sure?” she asked, and Cecilia smiled. “It’s fine, just go home.” Maggie scurried off and Cecilia sunk back into her office chair. Maggie had been working all night, and she needed a break. Cecilia looked back at her messy office and closed her eyes. Maybe a small nap wouldn’t hurt.
