Steve followed his friends through the murky green water. A swarm of bubbles would obstruct his view every few seconds. He didn't like scuba diving, but it was the only way he could see what his friend Adam wanted to show him.

Adam was an aspiring Marine Biologist. He went scuba diving in the bay during his free time. He knew every species of plant and animal that lived below the surface. Recently, he claims he found possible remnants of Atlantis. Of course, Steve thought it was stupid.  But Adam felt that no one would believe him if he didn't show anyone.

Steve watched as his friends disappeared over the edge of a slope. He saw no sign of them when he reached the edge. Just darkness.  Right as he began to panic; yellow beams pierced the darkness, starting on the slope and pointing downwards. He realized that it was his friend's flashlights. He turned his on and followed them.

When he finally caught up with them, what he saw amazed him. Ancient Greek ruins on the sea floor! This had to have been it! This was Atlantis! Kim and Jan(his other scuba diving friends) examined what appeared to be some type of obelisk. However, Adam was nowhere to be seen. Being a good friend, Steve went off to look for him.

A minute later, he found him observing a large object. From a distance, it appeared to be a giant boulder. When he got closer, he could tell it was a statue of Poseidon sitting on his throne. His right arm was stretched out, aiming his trident towards the surface.

Steve joined Adam in examining it. The statue must've been ancient, but it was clean and detailed. The strangest thing is that not a single speck of algae blemished the entire statue.

Suddenly, Kim and Jan swam towards them in a panic. They were pointing at something in the darkness. There was something over there, that they were afraid of. Adam figures that it was time to surface. Suddenly, Jan was yanked away by her foot! It happened so quickly that it took everyone a second to process that she didn't simply disappear.

They all swam towards the surface quickly(but not quick enough to get the bends). There was something down there that killed Jan that was going to kill the rest of them! They were more than happy to see the sun's light again. They were almost to the surface. Steve looked down to see to see the creature! It was a large, brown sea serpent. It had a dragon-like head and rows of shining, sharp teeth. It's mouth was wide opened as it swam at full speed towards them!

Steve and Adam watched in fright as the serpent shot past them; breached like a whale on the surface above, landing with a deafening crash. It then disappeared back into the darkness below. Steve and Adam both looked at each other. Then they turned to where Kim was, only to see nothing. They frantically looked for her. The horrifying realization set in: the serpent ate Kim too!

Both boys finally surfaced and removed mouthpieces. "What was that thing?!" Steve demanded. "For once, I have no ide-". And that's all Adam got to say before he was yanked down too.

Steve has never been so scared in his life. He nervously searched for the boat that brought them here. There it was, 80 feet away. He suddenly got a huge rush of adrenaline and began to swim like he never has before.

After what felt like an hour, Steve climbed aboard and threw himself on the deck. He finally had time to catch his breath. Out of nowhere, the boat lurched upwards! He flew a few feet in the air. Instead of landing back in the water; he landed on the deck again, face first this time.

As he lifted his face, he saw a mysterious splatter of blood. A few seconds later, a sharp pain stung his nose. He must've smashed it when he landed. The boat lurched again, not as badly this time. Steve realized what was happening: The serpent was attacking the boat!

He got up and ran towards the boat's controls. He didn't even know how to drive a boat, but he had to learn quickly. He quickly found the start button and pressed it. The boat hummed to life. Now what?

"The throttle! That's it!" he exclaimed when he found it. Right as he reached for the handle, the boat lurched again! Steve slid towards the side of the boat and began tipping over the edge, catching a glimpse of the serpent's face! Miraculously, his belt caught on the railing! He was able to recuperate himself and ran back towards the throttle. He grabbed the handle and pushed at full force! The boat shot forward at maximum speed. He managed to get hold of the steering wheel and made his way towards the shore.

The serpent decided to let Steve live, since it would be too much effort to catch the boat. It swam back down to Atlantis. It was his job to guard the lost city. Any human who found it had to be killed, or at least driven away. It then swam up to the Poseidon Statue. Which set his Trident down to pat his pet's head, saying: "Thank you for getting rid of those humans, again."
