[TW: Very Graphic Scenes]
-Kaisa-
Levi isn't next to me once I wake up. There are still traces of his presence from the indent on his pillow and the tousled sheets from where he lay. My hand remains in the same position it was in last night before I fell asleep. Bringing it into a fist, I notice the warmth in my palm is gone; he hasn't been here for at least twenty minutes. Nevertheless, I wake up the other cadets and reiterate the game plan for today before sending them off to get ready. Two hours later, the plan is executed perfectly.
This plan being the transportation of Eren and Historia secretly while Jean and Armin were used as decoy's to be captured by a group of thugs. Currently, Levi and Mikasa are dealing with that whole fiasco while I sit amongst the rooftops, watching the carriage safely move cities once more.
Jumping around the roofs brings back a weird nostalgia of my childhood. The feeling of bricks underneath my palms while I lunge over the edges to another building feels good. With every swing, the breeze keeps me cool. My three kids are with me, swinging between on the rooftops parallel to me. Our job is to make sure that Eren and Historia don't die while Levi and Hange's squad deal with the other operations.
The carriage stops moving, so I put a fist up to signal to the others to stop their movement. They listen and I peer down to see a large group of people are blocking the carriage's way; it seems to be some sort of festival. My eyebrows furrow in confusion. I don't recall seeing any posters about this specific festival, or any celebration on this day. Is it possible that we misunderstood something?
No. Something here is wrong—there are no children at this event.
I lower myself to the ground and stealthily run across the street to meet the other three. After arriving at their side, I shoot a hook towards their building and bring myself up to greet them. They don't notice me. Instead, they're talking amongst each other, asking if they've seen me across the street.
"Oi, didn't I tell you guys to watch your backs constantly?" I ask, arms crossed.
Tobio jumps slightly, while Kiyoko and Kei turn around with resting faces.
"How'd you get here?" Kei questions.
"By walking."
He squints at me, "I didn't mean it like that-"
I wave him off, "I know you didn't mean it like that. Something sketchy is happening here. This festival shouldn't be happening, and it's even weirder that there are no kids here either."
Kiyoko tilts her head, "What if it's just an adult party going on?"
Kei tilts his head slightly towards the ground, stifling a laugh from her comment.
I perk an eyebrow up, "Tobio, hit Kei for me."
The soldier smirks at me, giving Kei a relatively hard punch on the arm.
Kei grabs his arm, "What the hell?!"
"Captain Kaisa told me to do it." Tobio shrugs.
I roll my eyes, "I told you to just call me Kaisa!"
Bringing my attention back to Kiyoko's valid point, I respond. "Kiyoko, your conclusion isn't inherently wrong. I considered that option as well, however, it's interesting when the majority of people who can attend events during a weekday are those who don't work. Those who don't work but still manage to dress like that aren't poor; they don't need to work, they're just stay-at-home parents. If you look closely, the majority of the people attending are women, and these women are wearing traditional housewife clothing."
