Tony
Dad and I stopped by a restaurant along the way to have lunch. I chose to have a cheese sandwich while dad had an egg Mayo sandwich. "Hey son, if you could star in a movie, what movie would that be?" That was dad trying to get my attention as usual. I like that he doesn't bother me with annoying questions. "I don't know dad, maybe Richard Chamberlain from DR. KILDARE. He's pretty cool.
" *Beep* *Beeeeeeeep* Dad's phone kept echoing, "Hello, who's speaking?" dad asked the unknown caller. "Hello, Is this Mr. Henry Stone?" asked the caller. "Yes, you may go ahead." dad answered starting to look anxious. "Your wife is here at the hospital, she was brought in by a colleague." His unusually fine-looking face had gone pale. "What hospital please?" He responded after catching his breath. "Roper St. Francis Healthcare." The caller responded and dad hung up. He didn't even say goodbye, I had never seen him so disturbed. He left his half-eaten sandwich and rushed to the car, I went as fast as I could to catch up with him. As he sped off to the hospital, I didn't know what to be more afraid of, Mum's current condition or dad's driving. The ride was extremely quiet, his face expressionless. By the time we reached the hospital, his short legs were even faster than I thought they could move with his usually unkempt black hair sweeping to the side.
Inside the hospital, dad rushed to ask some nurses about mum's current condition. It seems she passed out earlier from extreme fatigue, I wasn't all that surprised since she's always busy traveling to different countries for her fashion shows. The doctor called dad to speak in private. In my curiosity, I leaned behind the door to hear what it was about. " It seems your wife has had adenocarcinoma for a while now." In other words, lung cancer. I was taken aback by this but kept eavesdropping. "Is she going to be okay?" dad inquired.
"It seems the lung cancer has reached stage 3A and the best solution is surgery amongst other things. I'd also advise that it be done quickly." The doctor explained further "She may or may not make it out of surgery and even if she does she won't be around for much longer."I noticed a nurse coming my way so I hurried off and called Beth. " Hey Beth, meet us at Roper St. Francis Healthcare."
"Why what's wrong Tony? Is everyone okay?" Beth asked. " Not, not really but come here quickly."
" I'm on my way Tony, see you in a bit."I took a walk outside the hospital while I waited for Beth.
Bethany
After I got off the phone with Tony, I asked Chris to give me a ride. This time, the bike ride wasn't as exciting, I felt very uncomfortable, and my heart was pounding like crazy. I shut my eyes and held Chris tighter as we sped on.
When I got to the hospital, I thanked Him for his help and told him to have a good night. I found Tony in the yard and he filled me in on everything. "Where's mum now? Is she awake?" I asked, tears filling my eyes. "Hey come here baby girl, she's going to be okay." Tony said reassuringly and wiped my eyes. When we went in, we saw dad coming out of the Doctor's office. "Hey Beth, Tony, c'mon let's go see your mother." Dad said leading the way.
Mum looked really pale and she seemed to have lost some weight but the biggest question on my mind was how we didn't notice. "Hey, Bethany darling come sit over here." Mum mumbled and I sat by the bed. "How are you?" She asked. "I couldn't answer, I kept trying to fight the tears. "How am I?! Mum I'm not the one on the bed." I finally spoke. " I'll be fine soon, I'm sorry I kept this from all of you, I promise I've been taking care of myself–" " –Not as much as should have mum" Tony cut mum in mid-sentence and walked out, dad went after him.
"Be honest with me mum, what's going to happen to you?" I asked. "Well the doctors said I need to do surgery and chemotherapy afterwards, they'll also need to monitor me for a while. I'm strong okay? And I'm going to be fine." Now fighting back her own tears. "Promise me you won't let Amy know anything, I didn't want any of you to find out so please do that." I gave her a reassuring smile "I promise mum."Tony
I got so upset seeing mum in that bed, I stepped out for some fresh air, walking about for a bit when I see dad. "Tony, I know you're upset but that stunt you pulled in there really wasn't nice. We need to support your mother now as well as being a closely tight family so we can get through this. Okay son?" I was starting to get furious. "I understood that I may have hurt mum a lot but I'm hurting too." Dad placed his hand on my shoulder "Me too."
Dad and I kept talking for a while when the nanny called. It was pretty late so Dad told me to drive Bethany home. I guess he just wanted to be with his wife. When we got home, Amy kept bombarding us with questions about mum and dad. "They went on a short trip." Bethany said. "They'll be back soon." I added.

I could barely sleep last night so I beeped Dad. "Morning Dad, how are you? And how's Mum doing?" Dad was never much of a morning person but he sounded very conscious. "We're good son, Your mum feels much better this morning. The doctor told me she would need a transplant as soon as possible so we're looking out for donors, everything's going to be fine." I must say I really admired the positivity in his voice, the only issue was finding a donor in time. "That all sounds great, I'll talk to you later, bye."~~~~~~~
"Hey Tony, could you run down to the hospital?"
