More Than Revenge [Chaelisa, Jenlisa, Chaennie]

Chapter 19

Jennie

Jennie was avoiding Lisa and it seemed like Chaeyoung and Lisa were avoiding Jennie. All in all the start of the week had not gone well. It was almost time for dance class and Jennie couldn't stop her knee from shaking up and down as she stared up at the clock on the plain classroom wall. The boy in front of Jennie turned and gave her a dirty look and she realised she had been tapping her pen in time with her knee.

"Sorry," She whispered and he turned away with a grunt.

Worried about Chaeyoung and Lisa and the kiss that Jennie only remembered faintly she jumped when the bell rang before quickly packing her stuff and heading for her locker. Her eyes darted around the corridor but as usual she didn't see Lisa anywhere. She hadn't seen her since Jackson's party. Chaeyoung on the other hand had not turned up at lunchtime on Monday and whenever Jennie saw her in the halls she walked quickly past seemingly lost in thought. In any case, Jennie thought as she approached the dance studio, I guess we'll see each other now. If they turn up that is.

Jennie walked into the room feeling her heart pound in her chest despite the chill vibe that filled the room as people spoke quietly and warmed up. Jisoo waved her over from the other side of the room and Jennie returned a smile before her eyes landed on Chaeyoung who was speaking to the teacher. Seeing Chaeyoung standing there calmed her nerves greatly, why was she even so nervous in the first place?

Rosie was her friend, right?

Just as she felt herself start to calm down she noticed Chaeyoung seem to excuse herself from her conversation with the dance instructor and the look in her eye made Jennie lose her breath. Chaeyoung began to walk for the door and as she passed the dark haired girl reached out instinctively and stopped her.

"Hey," Not knowing what to say Jennie spewed out the first thing that came to mind, "Are you avoiding me? Cause-"

Jennie cut off when she saw the tears in Chaeyoung's eyes. Softly she let go and watched silently as the girl left the room. Standing frozen for a second Jennie suddenly snapped herself out of it and ignoring the teachers calls for the class to gather around she followed Chaeyoung out of the studio and towards the girls bathroom.

Jennie grabbed the still swinging door and entered carefully, immediately she walked to the only closed cubicle furthest from the door. She hesitated as she raised her fist hearing small whimpers from inside before she gathered her courage and knocked on the door.

"Rosie?"

She heard sniffles and there was a pause before Chaeyoung's deflated voice responded.

"Hey Jennie."

She sounded empty and Jennie began to panic. Did she know that she and Lisa kissed? Would she be mad? It made her sad to think that even though Lisa ignored her Chaeyoung still wanted to be with her. Swallowing she prepared to apologise when the door opened and Chaeyoung stood before her, eyes trained on the ground.

"She's gone."

What?

"Huh?" Jennie croaked before clearing her throat.

Chaeyoung looked up at her and Jennie felt her heart sink at her words.

"Lisa went back to Thailand."

Okay, this was unexpected. Jennie's jaw dropped slightly and she looked at Chaeyoung almost incredulously.

"What? Why? For how long," Jennie felt her chest tighten, "Is she coming back."

Chaeyoung met her now teary eyes with her own and shrugged.

"I don't know."

A slight sob escaped from Chaeyoung as she reached forward and buried her head in Jennie's shoulder. Jennie barely reacted, her body limp even as Chaeyoung held her tightly and cried.

"She didn't even say goodbye."

Jennie slowly raised her hands to hold Chaeyoung as she came to terms with what was going on.

Lisa had left.

Why did Jennie feel like this was her fault?
