Calum refused to go to the field after that.

Nearly three weeks had passed and he just couldn't go near it.

He would take the long way to Luke's house to avoid the wretched place. He wasn't even sure how long the park had even been there, it had just seemed to pop up one day.

But after a while, Calum began to realise just how hard it was to break habits.

--

Calum was bored.

He had never been so bored in his life.

Never before had his boredom reached such cataclysmic levels.

He was also slightly hungover.

Only slightly.

He had crashed at Luke's house after Luke had dragged him to one of Ashton's parties, which had been in the words of Luke 'pretty wild'.

Luke had also kicked him out of his house at some atrocious hour, Calum wasn't sure what time but if the sun was up it was an atrocious hour, because his girlfriend was coming over soon.

'Fucking douche,' Calum mumbled blearily as he stepped outside Luke's door. The door slammed behind him, causing his hungover body to jump and his headache to scream.

As he started walking, he was so caught up in groggily cursing Luke and his hangover, he forgot to take the turn that went away from the field.

He stumbled through the street, probably looking like a goddamn wreck, mumbling incoherently under his breath.

As Calum turned the final corner to the field, he realised his mistake. The field was already in sight and an unfamiliarly familiar head of blonde hair was there.

Calum froze at the corner, all thoughts of his hangover and Luke dissolving and replaced by utter panic. The blonde hair had turned and was warily looking at Calum, probably wondering why he was staring at her like she had just appeared out of nowhere.

It was too late to turn around and go back the way he came and she was starting to look at him funnily as he remained frozen on the street corner.

Calum slowly took a step, then another, then another. Eventually he was walking somewhat normally, but he was still staring at the girl, expecting her at any moment to burst in an explosion of flowers and bubbles.

'What the hell are you staring at?'

Calum blinked and stopped again, realising the girl had spoken.

In that instant he knew it had to be her because she had the exact same voice and there was bloody flowers woven into her hair.

At a loss for what to say, Calum said the first thing that came to his head.

'I'm not staring at you.'

She scoffed and stood up, brushing grass off her jeans.

'So I suppose your eyes just happened to be stuck on me as if I just sprouted a pair of antlers and started doing an impression of Bambi while singing Fall Out Boy?'

Calum was at a loss for words because holy shit she's real.

'You're doing it again,' she snarled and began to walk away.

Calum watched her walk away, frozen to the spot as he realised the literal girl of his dreams was real and he was letting her walk away.

'Wait!' Calum called after her, jogging to catch up with her.

She turned around haughtily, her hands on her hips and her mouth set in a scowl.

'What do you want?' she hissed, her eyes narrowing as Calum came closer.

'Do you.... Do you wanna grab a coffee with me?'

She raised an eyebrow at him.

'I don't even know you,' she remarked, the scowl still there but not as apparent.

Calum took a step closer, taking a deep breath before speaking again.

'That's the thing, I think I know you,' he whispered.

Her eyes widened and she began to back away like a spooked animal.

'No wait please-'

'Are you a rapist? Or an axe murderer or something? Because this is so not fucking normal-'

'Please just let me explain, come have coffee with me and I swear I'll explain everything. Because I know you. I swear to god I know you,' Calum pleaded.

She didn't move, but Calum could see she was considering it.

'If I go with you, you're buying coffee then,' she said, her voice trembling slightly.

'Deal.'
