Maria's POV
I'm unable to fathom what it was that was going around me. It felt like I couldn't breathe.
Now?!
They're coming NOW?!
Why am I letting this bother me so much? We didn't do anything wrong. But still....what if something goes wrong?
For the past hour, we've been sitting in the living room discussing what to do and how to try to stay away from them.
"We won't be able to stay away from them...at least Maria won't.", Alice says in an uneasy voice.
"What are you talking about, Alice?", Carlisle goes to her.
"They're going to be at her school....", she says quietly.
"Maybe", Jasper begins,"You shouldn't go to school for the next few months, Maria."
"No", I say quickly,"I'm not going to show fear. Besides. What's the worse they can do to me at school? It's not like we've even done anything...right?"
"Are you sure", Esme speaks up,"We could always homeschool you for awhile."
I put on a small smile,"Trust me. I'll be fine. If anything goes wrong, I'll tell you."
My hand goes to my pocket.
"Oh shit", I whisper.
They all look at me.
"Oh, no it's nothing big.", I say,"I just forgot my phone at the forest. I'll be right back."
"Be careful.", Bella says,"We don't know if they're here or not."
"Don't worry, I will be.", I tell them.
I quickly run, full speed to the spot next to the tree where I was sitting. But, I quickly frown.
Where is my phone?
No one comes here. At least I don't think they do. I've never seen them. And the wolves have their own territory.
I look everywhere and I even climb to the top of the tree because that's where I sit every now and then.
But my phone is still no where to be found. It couldn't have just walked away.
"Looking for something?"
My eyes grow wide as the melodic voice fills my ears.
Slowly, I turn around and look at the vampire standing behind me.
Alec.
I've never seen him before, but I can already tell it's him. He's Jane's brother and he looks closer to her age. About 18.
He looks.....flawless. Perfect. Impeccable. Any amazing word you can come up with is running through my mind right now.
His brown hair. Burgundy eyes. Pale skin. And tall yet muscular stature.
"Hmm", he says and pulls out my phone,"I didn't know hybrids were so moronic that they didn't even know how to speak."
"How did you know what I was?", I growl as he throws my phone at me, which I safely tuck away into my pocket.
He smirks, but doesn't answer my question.
Maria...What the hell are you doing???
Get the hell out of here!
Run!!!
But my legs reacted a second too late. Because as soon as I get several feet away, he came, grabbed me and pinned me to the tree.
"Let go!!!", I screamed. My mouth opened to let out a blood-curdling scream, but he quickly covered it.
"Who are you?", he asks distastefully.
"Why the hell do you care?!", I shout,"Let go you monster!"
He did, but as soon as he let go, I pinned him against the tree.
He didn't try to escape in any way, but it was hard to really get in his face. He's tall. 5'10 at least. And I'm 5'0, so it looks pathetic that I'm trying to imply that I want to kill him.
But I don't care.
"Listen here, Volturi.", I snarl,"If you come near me or my family....I'll end you. I don't care if you're a pure vampire....I'll find a way to kill you."
He chuckles, which just fumes my anger, but this time, he pushes me off.
"Don't worry, Cullen.", he says,"I don't want anything to do with you or your precious, little 'family'."
"Why are you here?", I ask.
"That's confidential. But for your own safety, you should leave before I decide to take out someone else. And that someone else may be you.", he says in complete seriousness.
But I'm not one to back away so quickly,"Ha. I'd like to see you try. Do it......I dare you."
Wrong move, because the next the I know is that he pinned me to the tree. Again. Harder this time with his hand up to my neck.
"Don't agitate me. I'll kill you.", He snarls,"I could easily break you like a twig."
Ok. Now I'm afraid. But I'll be damned before I let him see that.
He's not the only one who's learned a few techniques from time to time.
Slowly, I let my power do it's own magic. And he lets go. Completely perplexed. But I don't want him to find out anything, so I quickly retract it as soon as I fall to the ground.
"What did you do?", he asks. Now back to himself.
And with one small smirk and a wave, I run off.
