It all played out before your very eyes. Your beloved Aether's crimson blood spilled into the soil beneath him. His golden eyes lost their polished shine, for it was faded into a dull yellow. You glanced down at your hands that were dirtied with his blood. Aether's head rested on your lap. Tears landed on the lifeless boy's face and trickled down the sides. You cried and screamed, hoping he would wake.
"[Y/N]!" You wake up with a large gasp and a cold sweat. You sat up in a jolt and looked around you until you met his eyes. Relief set it when you looked at his eyes. How the glistened and shined from the moonlight that illuminated the room, along with the lampgrass vase on your bedside table. Aether's eyes filled with concern and he rubbed your shoulders gently.
"Bad dream?" He said huskily, after being woken of from your jolts, and you felt a bit guilty for that. You stared down at your hands that were completely clean of any blood. You nodded gingerly.
"Bad dream is an understatement. It was a mortifying nightmare." You whispered ever so quietly, but he understood what you said. Aether pulled you to him and the both of you lied back down together. He rested his chin on your head as you cuddled into him. His arms wrapped around you tightly, but comforting. He placed gentle kisses on your forehead and hummed.
"... I'm scared if I fall back asleep, I will fall back into the nightmare." You gripped onto the light shirt that was clothed on him.
"Hm.. why don't I sing you a lullaby? Maybe you will have a nicer sleep. If you want, you can tell me your dream in the morning, my Sunshine." You giggled a bit at his suggestion. But honestly, you'd rather prefer him singing you a lovely tune instead.
"I'd like that." You smiled and waited for Aether to come up with a lullaby. He rubbed your back gently. The smell of him was so comforting. Just being with him relaxed you.
"Okay, I got one." He took a big inhale, and began to sing.
"Let's go in the garden, you'll find something waiting. Right there where you left it lying upside down. When you finally find it, you'll see how it's faded. The underside is lighter when you turn it around. Everything stays, right where you left it. Everything stays, but it still changes. Ever so slightly, daily and nightly. In little ways, when everything stays."
Aether looked down at you to see you fast asleep. He always admired how fast you can fall asleep, even after a nightmare. Of course, he was extremely curious to know about your nightmare, but he knew better to leave you with a pleasant melody, rather than just bringing it up to you. Aether adjusted himself, he lied on his back while you slept ever so soundly on his chest. Your breathing was peaceful and quiet, rather than earlier when it was hitched and jagged. He smiled softly, and entangled his fingers with your hair gently, not wanting to disturb you. He then looked up at the ceiling, where the moonlight and the lampgrass illuminated and danced around each other. Eventually, he too soon fell into a restful slumber.

Your eyes fluttered open, and quickly shut when the sun gleamed right onto them. Putting your hand over your eyes, you let out a small groan, and then stretched. You looked over to the side of you, where Aether was peacefully sleeping. Both his arms clinged around your waist, along with the both of your legs intertwined with one another. His expression was so peaceful, not a single care in the world. You giggled at his bed head that tangled over the course of the night, he's going to have a fun time brushing that out later. You brushed a bit of hair that was covering his face so you could see it better. His golden hair glimmered with the morning sun.
When looking at Aether like this, it made most grateful. And when thinking about last night, it made you love him even more. When you woke up from your nightmare, he didn't even question it, he just wanted to make you feel better. You are his first and top priority. Aether has so much on his plate, finding his sister, the Fatui, commissions, dealing with Mondstadt and Liyue, along with other regions he will soon be travelling for. You are just a simple merchant, yet he treats you like you are his treasure. But, you would never trade such a wonderful person like him for anything in the world.
Soon enough, Aether's golden eyelashes fluttered open. He slowly moved his eyes to meet yours and smiled gently.
"Good morning, Sunshine. Good sleep?" Aether pulled you closer to him, as you messed around with his blonde hair.
"Yes, much better." He hummed in response to you.
"Wanna tell me your dream?"
"... Let's savour this moment first."
