I had to find out more about him. I looked at everything in the yearbook and file. After a while I knew what to do next.
Saturday morning I met up with the twins at their house.
"Where exactly do you want to go?" Grace asked me.
"Just the Marshall residence" I say.
"The blind lady's house" Grace whispers.
"yeah"
Lily and Grace said Jenna Marshall is a scary person. I think they're exaggerating. How can a blind person cause any harm? We walk over to her house.
"look, grandmas' house," Lily said pointing at the house across the street. "do you think she's home?" Grace asked. Lilly just shrugged.
" We're here," I say looking at the house in front of us. I walk up and knock on the door.
"who is it?" a female voice answered.
"Hello, my name is Amelia. I was wondering if I could ask you some questions" I said honestly. The door opens.
"Amelia Cavanaugh? Let me guess your parents?" the tall brunette with shade said already knowing the question.
"Yeah"
"Please sit down," she said closing the door behind her. We sat down on chairs on the porch.
"I never like your mother," she said straight up "Your Father was the only person I ever loved." she said sitting down.
"Do you know where he is?" I ask her. She shakes her head.
"he disappeared I never heard from him again. But I hear he visits people he cares about once in while or calls. I never received a visit or call he doesn't like me. Not even if we're family now"
"He visits people he cares about?" I ask sadly. " he has never visited me before"
" you're his daughter he visits you the most. Unless he doesn't want to risk your safety"
"what about my safety?" I ask her.
"I think I've said enough. If you want to I'll let you see his room" Jenna offered.
"I'd like that," I say entering the house behind her. The twins stayed outside waiting.
She lead me to a room filled with dust. I see the bed on the left desk on the right. There was a glass shelf by the window with toy cars books and more. His desk had drawings of bands and furniture. What caught my attention was a drawing or sketch of a house. I turn the paper to see a note.
Dear Toby
I've been meaning to write to you. I wanted to tell you what has been happening, or what you're missing. Emily and Alison are back from their honeymoon, Aria and Ezra moved in into their new home. Hanna and Caleb are on vacation for the weekend, I'm taking care of Aidan. As you know already Amelia's birthday is next week. The girl's volunteered on decorating her birthday party. Our little girl is turning 4 years, I wish you could be there. I've noticed a change in her she's more silent, she asks for you every night. I don't know what to tell her. She needs her father, and It's been a year. I wish this could all be over, so we can be a family together. I saw him yesterday at the brew he's looking for you, I don't want to know where you are. I can't know, I don't want to risk your life. I don't want Amelia to grow up without a father. I love you too much, I can't lose you.
Sincerely your wife Spencer
My father? He knew about me. Risk my safety. Risk his safety. Who did she mean by him. Was someone hurting my family. I looked at the pictures on his desk he has 3 pictures of him and my mom one of them in a field, the second one was them at prom, the third was him next my mom in her graduation gown. I also a picture of him in the middle of Mr. Fitz and Mr. Rivers. The last one was him hugging Mrs. Fields as she kissed his cheek.
Lilly and Grace walked me back to their house. I told them if I could speak to their mom. I need answers.
"Amelia, did you want to speak to me?" Ms. Fields.
"Yeah" I said. "You new my father, didn't you?" I asked her.
"I did during high school" Mrs. fields said.
"Do you know where he is?" I asked
"Honey, he disappeared years ago" she said
"But you know where he is?" I saw her go speechless.
"Not right now. The last time I heard from him was a month ago. He was in Canada he said something about relocating somewhere outside of Rosewood." She says looking for a paper through a drawer. "You know he visits you on your birthday."
"I've never met him" I told her.
"He keeps his distance." She tells me taking out a folder.
"What about my mother?" I ask.
"Your father told me she was last seen in New York 3 months ago, he's been trying to find her since then" she hands me a paper. "It's the address of one of your family member, don't know who. Your father told me to give it you when turned 16 or 18. He didn't know how long he would go into hiding. After your mom disappeared he left it just in case this went on any longer"
"Has it been longer than expected?" I asked
"10 years longer than expected" she said "Why did they leave? I mean, who made them leave?" I asked her
"I'm not the one who should tell you this, besides I don't know the full story" she said "I'll drive you their if you want?"
I nod. Lilly and Grace sat beside me in the care. Mrs. Fields drove to Philly trying to find our destination.
"We're here" She said looking at the small house in front of us.
"Go knock" Lilly told me.
I walk up to the porch ring the doorbell and wait for someone to answer the door. I ring it a second a time seconds later the door opens to reveal, a tall man with blue eyes wearing glasses, gray hair, and was wearing a suit.
"Who are you?" The old man asked me.
"Amelia, Amelia Cavanaugh" I say and his eyes widen at me, he looks behind me.
"Daniel Cavanaugh?" Mrs. Fields was in shock.
"Emily Fields. What are you doing here?" The man said. Mrs. Fields and the twins walked behind me. "Your granddaughter came to see you" Mrs. Fields said and I guess my grandfather looked down at me.
"Your here because of your mom and dad" He said. "He's been everywhere now. For the last 10 years he has been running, he's been running his whole life but this time he can't stop their too much at risk." he tells me "He sends me post cards or letters every time he moves"
"You know where he is?" I ask.
"Yes"
"Where is he?"
"He's hiding close to you"
"What"
"He's at Cavanaugh Cabin"
"I don't where that is"
"I do" Mrs. Fields said.
"Well than lets go" Lilly said.
"It was nice meeting my granddaughter" He told me.
"Goodbye"
"Bye"
The ride was long. I was shaking I'm not ready. But that doesn't matter I'm getting closer to finding her. I don't know what possessed me, but the second the car stop, I got out practically running towards the door. When I was in front of the door I was ready head back. I back out now. I knocked on the door. I waited for about a minute before turning around heading back to the car, but I heard the door open.
"Don't move" I hear a familiar voice as I turn around slowly, I see a man pointing a gun at me. He looks into my eyes that mirrored his. He lowers his gun.
"Amelia"
