Inside My Mind

I live in two worlds
The one in my head
And the one outside
The outside world is a terrifying place
So in my head I stay, still, and in place.
I hate being lonely,
But I love being alone
"They're exactly the same" is what I'm told
But it's different.

When I'm alone it's me, myself, and I
The conversations shared during the time together are calming
Bringing peace to my soul
But lonely is different.
Lonely is when I lost myself
And started a search party with them
To see if they knew what had happened myself
Because they know everything
And me is too improper and sounds awkward
So anxiety is invited
And depression crashes the party
And then I'm swallowed by the fear of being lost
Like myself.

I think that I'm strong but lately I've been feeling weak
As my knee-caps stutter like my voice as I try to speak
And I hide inside cause I think I'm a freak
Head down, slowly walking through life like a creep
"It's all in your head" They say

They are always right.
So in fear I stay in the world inside of my head
Hoping the world outside will never see
The true me.
