"JK you're late again!" Coach shouted as soon as he saw me entered the gym. I noticed that the other half of the court was packed with our University's Cheerleading squad.
"Sorry coach I had a bit of a situation earlier." I said justifying my laziness.
"Go get changed." He ordered. I walk intently towards the boy's locker room to change into my basketball uniform. Our locker room is just across the girl's locker room, too close that rumors and gossips pierce through the thick walls.
I quickly changed into my basketball uniform. I was about to go out when I heard someone cried loudly from the girl's locker room. Without having second thoughts, I hurriedly ran there in alarm and saw her leaning against the lockers. Her eyes were closed and she was holding her neck tightly as if it was in deep excruciating pain.
"What happened? Are you okay?" I said as I held her neck and checked what happened. There was a very visible red mark on her nape. Her milky white skin makes it nearly impossible for things to be left unnoticed. I even saw a small mole at the center of her neck. And a prominent mole on her left cheek. But that's not really what's important right now.
When my eyes landed on her pinkish lips, I can't help but swallow hard because I suddenly felt a lump in my throat. And I can't help but imagine how her lips would feel like against mine. It looks so soft and I'm fighting the urge to touch it with my thumb and I know that I'm not fighting enough.
When she opened her eyes, shocked registered to her face but in a split seconds her expression changed as if she saw something unpleasant. The kind of expression you make when you see something disgusting. It was a very rude expression upon the sight of someone as handsome as me.
Before I could even tell her how rude her expression was, people were already inside the locker room. My teammates, the cheerleaders and even my coaches.
"Ji Eun has kiss burn" someone shouted. "Are you guys making out?" And the crowd roared like thunder. Teasing and catcalling. I don't understand what they mean at first until I realized that my hands were still on her neck while her hands were on my wrists. I was inch away from this girl and from an outsider's point of view, we look very intimate.
Before my body could even react, she harshly removed my hands off her neck and walked away from me. A resounding "Aww" from the crowd is all I heard after. But I couldn't react to it because my eyes were focused on how the crowd looked amazing as she walked past them. They moved in sync as if she's a positively charged magnet and they're all bunch of positives as well. They repel in a very beautiful manner. A subtle smile crept my lips.
"JK, you got a girlfriend now?" One of my coaches asked cutting all my musings.
"What?" I said as if I was caught off guard. Then my teammates started teasing me as if I'm a child granted a trip to Disneyland for the first time. Aside from teasing I also heard sighs of disappointments and murmurs of hate from the girls around me. I even heard someone call her "Slut" I almost forgot that the cheerleaders were still here.
"As long as your relationship won't interfere with your practice schedules I'm cool with it. Okay let's continue the practice game. Get your ass on the court now." My coach said and walked away not really giving me a chance to say anything.
"Really? Lee Ji Eun? What did you do to her bro? She's like the most beautiful girl if not in the entire university, in the entire cheerleading squad. You're a lucky bastard." Jae my friend said as he draped his arms on my shoulders. We're done practicing for the day and we're on our way to our school's underground parking area.
"It was just a misunderstanding bro. You know I don't date. And if I do, she's not the type of girl I'd date." I said defensively and oddly feel bad after saying it. Jae was right. She's beautiful but Jae's exaggerating. Although she has really soft skin, expressive eyes, cute nose, long lashes, and beautiful lips, there are still more beautiful girls out there and her looks are just average. Her height is not even ideal. She's not even half as pretty as her.
