Jeanie came out of the shower and picked up her phone that had been ringing for a while:
- Where are you? - Reid asked as soon as she picked up.
- At the apartment - she calmly answered - I came to bring Beth some books and I was taking a shower before going to your place.
- I thought you were coming straight here - he complained - You know you can take a shower here.
- I'm sorry - she yearned - I had to bring Beth those books... And... I wasn't sure I could go straight there either.
- Why not?
- Because today is Sunday and your ex was coming this weekend...
- She already came, picked her stuff and went away - he interrupted her - You can come whenever you want. You don't have to worry about anything or hide from anyone.
- Anyway it had seem a little abrupt for us to meet.
- I understand, but don't doubt again, ok? Come here already! I'm eager to see you. It has been the longest weekend in my life.
- I'll be there in ten minutes - she smiled to the phone's screen and ran to get dressed.
Her wishes of seeing him, those she had been holding the whole weekend triggered, the doubts that drilled her mind disappeared without her noticing it, only with his order: "Don't doubt again"; she decided not to doubt. Her stubbornness disappeared with his words, her wishes of starting a fight vanished when he looked at her; and that smile, that one that no one could get, was enough to mute all her fears.
The way to Reid's house seemed like a classical book scene. She walked enjoying the view of lights and shadows that the trees at both sides of the road created. So many times she has walked that path and so few times she noticed how beautiful it was and how many showy comparisons were dancing in her imaginative mind.
She spent five more minutes than she said to Reid and when she turned the corner, he was standing at the porche looking everywhere. He took a relief deep breath and took advantage of her distraction to observe her. She was wearing an extra large blouse combined with tied jeans and her hair was getting in her eyes because of the wind that seemed to push her. Jeanie was a young girl with a hidden body that would only be seen when she got naked because she rarely wore gaudy clothes. She didn't have a prominent neckline, but her waist seemed like a ballerina's one; and her misleading hips lead to a well shaped thighs that respected the division curve with the firm buttocks from a girl at her age. Reid yearned and smiled at her when she kissed him on his distracted moment.
- What cloud are you on? - she smiled waiting for him to invite her in.
- I was looking at you... And... Then I thought on how good you hide your graces.
- I don't know if I should be offended or flattered - she joked knowing what he meant.
- Come here - he almost ordered seating on his bed.
- Do you want to tell me something? - she doubted following him to bed while she inquisitively looked at him.
- My ex didn't take all of her things - he confessed as if he didn't want to.
- Neither she will - she pointed out - She just came to check the ground to see if she had a chance to get you back.
- Where do you get those theories from? - he mocked.
- I'm younger than you, but I'm not idiot. Besides... It's the oldest trick of history. And... If we take into account that she didn't take anything else, is because she is most certainly coming back; and if she does, it is because she thinks she has a chance.
- Don't say silliness - he shriek as the teenager he wasn't - She know I'm not getting back to her. She badly hurt me.
- Lie to me that I enjoy that - Jeanie mocked at him trying not to show him how much it hurt her to know.
- I don't lie - he repeated.
- Whatever...
Before Jeanie could say anything else or even judge him with her glance, her lips felt the weight of his and her eyes closed to kiss him back. The emotional intensity went down while the physical one went as up as they never had felt it before. They allowed themselves go and except the onomatopoeic sounds from the moment, nothing remotely similar to a conversation came out of their lips until it was already night.
- We should eat - Reid smiled - Spending so much energy without recovering strength is going to kill us.
- You're right - she yearned - I'm hungry.
- What about if we go out?
- Ok, but we shower first.
- You go - he said - I'll catch you up now - but as soon as Jeanie left the bed, he closed his eyes.
Jeanie knew he would fall asleep and wouldn't follow her to the shower. She spent almost an hour there because she also washed her hair. She hated having it sticky on her face.
- Wake up sleeping beauty - she bit his ear.
- You didn't wait for me! - he complained.
- You took too long. Come on, take a shower, I'm ready - she walked a little bit away from the bed and modeled the dress for him.
- You're very pretty - he couldn't think anything else to say watching how the dress, more similar to girl's dress than to a woman's one emphasized her small waist and insinuated without showing her thights moving a little up when she rolled around to show it to him - I'll be out in ten minutes.
Reid was a simple, but elegant man. He combined a white shirt with tied jeans and left his blond wet hair fell over his forehead. He needed a haircut soon, but Jeanie loved the unworried and youthful air it gave him; so she never smiled when he said he needed to cut it.
They went to a restaurant from around which Reid loved and she tolerated because it wasn't far away and the didn't need to go in the car. Reid hated to drive at night and she got dizzy in the small sportive car.
- Won't you ever drive? - he asked mocking of how much she liked to walk.
- It shouldn't be the same - she answered - Also, I want to learn with my dad. I don't want to go to the driving school!
- You need driving school to get the license.
- I just need an authorization for my dad to teach me and then everything will be easier.
- You're an spoiled child - he mocked again.
- My dad is the best and the worst professor in the whole world.
- How is that supposed to be understood?
- He is the worst because he is very demanding! More than a payed professor. And the best because even though his methods are not really conventional and maybe a bit abrupt, when he finishes teaching me, I'll get my license with closed eyes - she explained him enthusiastic.
- Ok. Ok - he smiled - I think I like your dad.
- I'm not sure he'll correspond the feeling - she mocked - He is very jealous with his "little girl" - she made a childish gesture and Reid smiled.
- I can imagine - he said in the middle of his laughter - It's really hard to let you go.
- No one has to let me go - she complained - If my wings aren't cut, I'll fly back.
- Sometimes you sound like a book's main character.
- Every one is a book's main character - she explained - Sometimes you write it yourself, sometimes someone else writes it for you. It depends on the person.
- All right Agatha Christie - he smiled
- I'm not Agatha Christie - she complained as the spoiled child she didn't want to be - I'm Jeanie Dickson and I'll strike this phrase copyright - they both laughed.
That night was very funny for both of them and neither mentioned Denisse again.
