Chapter 26

I feel my phone buzz. "Oh crap, I texted Lilia." I texted her back with the common wrong number text. I sent the same message to the no-name number. The person responded quickly, 'I'll be there in a moment you can go head outside and wait for me, I want this to be quick and painless.' I send a thumbs-up emoji and grab my drink. Walking out I let myself settle in the light before walking to the rocket. I smile as I pass families and just normal children on my way over to the rocket, in my own eyes I found this to be the restaurant's best feature.

The rocket was large it was gated off since it was cold the children couldn't really play inside of it today. I came face to face with a young girl no older than sixteen. "Hello," She was pretty short for her age though, it was almost like she was halted in her growth, odd. "Dr. Grace Kellie?" I nod, as she hands me a small bag, "I don't expect much, but I do want to hear what you've doctored in?" I look at her she just a curious teen and me a reason to lie about this. "I'm a geneticist I study people's genes and look for mutations or bad genes."

The girl smiled as I suddenly felt dizzy. "That's right, but Dr. Kellie don't you study a pituitary type of mutation?" I look up when I hear a voice, "Dr. Kellie!" I turn to see Lilia and Darek coming towards me, "I think it's time to go. Take my hand, please." The girl grabbed me. I can't tell if she was powerful or if I'm just really weak still from my surgery.

I hear something click to my right, "Freeze, don't come any closer!" The girl screamed; I look at Lilia as my vision blurs. I've overdone it now. I feel the girl move me as I'm dropped into darkness. Oh; the darkness welcomes me and feels so good!

I did it, I singlehandedly brought mother back to father. I; Penelope S. Meadow has brought her to father and he stated I too weak to fight, unlike the 3rd creation. Standing before me are the faces that worked with mother, the beautiful 1st creation.

They are beautiful, I can't deny that, but they are no match for me, for I am the 2nd creation. I am, father's favorite! Now, I can rub it in those brats' faces that I brought her back to him! "Penelope, what are you doing give Grace back to us!" I look over to the group, the man next to them was news to me but who cares, I pinpoint the speaker it was...right the idiot Ryan. "I don't know what you mean? Dr. Kellie is fine, she's with father now." Heath the hot head was annoyed, I would even call him furious. My heart flutters a little. I shudder at the thought of being broken by him.

I look over to the tattoo-covered fool, even though he's a fool I would happily lay in bed with him as well. Ryan was iffy, but Heath and the tattoo fool would most defiantly drop my panties for them. Yet they picked, beautiful women to accompany them, I hate it, Yukii and Violet should have been my friends I should have been in the first creation, but yet, the fourth girl who was asked to tag along to the playdate was cut short when my mother's car broke down that day.

Lilia shouldn't have been picked! "Penelope!" Her voice brought me back, "Yes?" I giggle out, Lilia stood no more than 6ft from me, she crossed her arms, "You've broken many normal civilian laws, and a handful of hero laws, by order of hero article 1 section 3 I have the right to put you under arrest, of kidnapping a non-super civilian. But if you give us back Dr. Kellie, I'll let you go."

I can't help but burst, "What's wrong Lilia, not going to fight me? You hide behind the rules so much you forgot who you were talking to last month! You, don't have the right to threaten me, but like this, I can finally tell you how I feel." Lilia was keeping the others behind her like she was some kind of hero, I know very well that she's not one. "Well tell me, you've hated me since you moved here when I was a child."

That surprised me, "Fine, I'll tell you, but once I have your proud face in the mud." I shoot my gun right for her. "Lilia did you know that when we were in the first grade you know after the scandal. You forgot I was even invited to your house that day. Then when you were making pretty nice grades you were suddenly surpassing me in your studies, you had gotten faster, and stronger and it just didn't seem right, I began to grow bitter and the thing that surprised me was my own friends stopped playing with me. Yukii and Violet were my friends before they were yours!"

I look at her noticing she dodged the bullet, I shot two more, "Then in middle school you never noticed but I did. All the boys were in love with you, but you had gotten the one I wanted Seth Evergreen. After I went and confessed to him and he broke my heart saying that I'd never reach your height! I was destroyed and I was going to kill myself. Until a man in an orange jumpsuit walked over to me and asked if I wanted to be powerful. I took his bait and fell for my father's love, now I am his Kori or daughter!" I aim my gun right at Lilia again, "But, even as loved as I am now father only talks about you six, 1st this and 1st that. It makes me sick!" BANG!

What surprised me is when the bullet hit more metal. Ryan made a wall of metal; it stopped the bullet. "That's enough!" Yukii charged for me, I wasn't expecting her. I run to the portal I opened, "Bye everyone, see you when you come to join father!" I hear them scream as I shut the portal.

Heath grabs me, as Yukii punched the rocket as Tucker goes to grab her, a scene was caused, as normal civilians begin to file into the parking lot. Darek ran over to grab Yukii with Tucker. That's when we hear creaking from the rocket. "Oh no..." I whisper out as the rocket begins to fall, I fly over and stop it from crushing a school bus.

The people of my quiet and peaceful town are now watching us, I lean it up as Heath and Ryan weld it back together. When we fixed it people were whispering, their words were crushing until the Hero Press makes no haste to find us, "Please tell us more about the trial?" Are you all in the pictures that were found?" "Is it true that you are all apart of the Riverside Scandal that happened ten years ago?" the voices grew louder, I noticed the local news truck pulling in, "Guys we have to leave." I grab Darek and we all take off. We took, the long way back and we all sat down in the main room, Darek sat in Dr. Kellie's chair as Dr. Icy and Dr. Staff play the news and were lucky enough to find that Yukii's powers drained all of the bystander's phones so nothing was caught.

Dr. Staff placed his hand on my shoulder; "What do we do know?" He asked me as the children all poke their heads in. "We, have to find her!" Heath said as he pushed himself out of his chair. "With what? We don't know where Dr. Riverside is Heath!" Yukii screams at him, "Well we can't try!" Violet yelled. Tucker hit his fist on the table, "Then let's go we'll fly across the globe if we have too!" "Yeah, no sense sitting here moping!" Ryan yells as his voice fills the room as well.

Darek whistled, the room was shocked, "Calm down the first thing we need to do is investigate." The room sits back down, as Dr. Icy clears her voice, "That right we investigate, but now the town is in a fuss, so it's time to become shadows, all phones shut down, no more social media and we'll begin moving about in a month, and yes, I know that it's a long time to not be in contact with your parents and guardian but we'll send letters and you'll all train hard and work to surpass the levels you were when we first started.

Dr. Staff smiled a sad and weak smile, "10 years ago, you were created. You are the chosen six to end your corrupt creator and his new powerful creations. Can we trust you to use your powers for good and save Dr. Kellie?" I look at the other as we nod, "Even though it's only been three months, we've grown powerful and still have much to learn." Heath said as he gives a cocky smirk. The group laughs a little, "What can we say, but we are heroes without masks."
