That night I stayed late with Dr. Kellie; "I looked through the school's cameras and found three possible suspects." I know that there are really four, but I just don't think Seth could hurt his friends. "Hmm...I see, thank you Lilia I think I can start my investigation..." I didn't notice Heath walking in but he pressed a button on the keyboard, "Well look at that, you miss one Cupcake?" I turn red, how'd he knows? "I guess your ex-crush skipped your mind since we're all friends right."
I was quiet, "Well; whatever; the reason may be, both of you thank you for bringing all the suspects forward." Dr. Kellie said as Heath watches me shift in my way of standing, "No, problem; now let's go Cupcake I'll take you home." I knew very well that, he meant we were going to talk about me hiding Seth, if I have faith in him then why would I fear putting him in the list.
We fly down the hall and out of the compound; Heath grabs me by the arm once we made it to the school. "Why did you lie? If you had any faith in Seth you would have told Dr. Kellie." My mouth ran dry did I really have that little faith in him that I'd try to cover for him? "I don't know...I guess I can't stand the thought of someone I consider a friend to be my enemy." Heath sighs, "Does he really consider you a friend? Or are you still a lovesick puppy?" My feelings for Seth have more or less disappeared and are nonexistent. "I guess I still care for him as a brother. I..." Heath stops me, "Would you have this little faith in me?" My eyes widen, "No, I would put all my faith in you, Heath!"
He nods and turns to the moon; "You know, back when I lived in St. Louis, I used to watch the morning come. Our neighbors would tell us; if you couldn't believe in your team, friends, or loved ones that you'd hide or cover up evidence for them; then you have no faith in them." I was quiet as we both look at the moon, "When did you lose faith in him?" Heath didn't break his gaze from the moon; I thought about it and grabbed his hand. "When some crazy wannabe hero saved my butt from the 2nd creation and I noticed some of his devices in the woods by my home that the 2nd creation was using."
The night was getting chilly as I noticed his breath in the moonlight; "So, you noticed it too?" I lean my head on his shoulder, "Yeah; my feelings began to waver and Seth told his friends in the robotics club that you gave him a black eye about scratching me off the number one virgin hit list." He smirks, "I did do a number on his eye didn't I?" I roll my eyes, "Heroes don't do that though." He sighs, "Yeah, but I'm a hero in-training, meaning I can mess up as much as I want."
I push off him as I take liftoff, "You promised to take me home, so let's go." He flies up to me, "Alright then let us go." Flying might have been the fastest, but it was the coldest! I wish I had worn a jacket or left when the sun was still up. We land in front of my house when I notice a police car outside; I walk in as I'm grabbed by my grandmother, "Where have you been, we've been worried sick!" I found my voice, "Why are you home so early I wasn't expecting you until next month." My grandmother dragged towards the stairs, "Bye Heath I'll see you tomorrow!" I yell as he stands there awkwardly.
In my room my grandmother looked over everything, "We returned early because your other grandparents in France are ill. So, we decide to return home for a couple weeks, when we arrived home and the bus and driver didn't bring you home and Mrs. White spoke about new kids coming around with you girls. Your grandfather thought nothing of it, but as it had gotten later and later, I called the police to find you." I gave her a worried expression, "Grandma, if you guys were home you could have texted me, or called I spend more time with friends since I was by myself lately even though Mrs. White is super nice, she has her own family to worry about."
Grandmother sat on my bed, "Who was that with you by the way?" I avoid gazes with her, "Well you see, that's my friend Heath, he moved in on the first day of school with his friends Tucker and Ryan. We've been hanging out studying and..." I almost said training I know my grandparents hate it when I use my powers, "You know doing safe smart PG teen things." She gave me a look, "Alright then why did Heath walk you home and not everyone, or why not alone?" Personally, even before we were dating Heath wouldn't let me walk home by myself anyways.
