*Shadow's POV*

I didn't want to get any closer to this man. I couldn't understand why but the feeling I got off him just wasn't right. I'd always felt like I could read people pretty well and often I'd found that when someone presents a perfect and flawless exterior they're rotten on the inside and I felt that radiating off this man, this angel. It made no sense but Lucifer clearly didn't like him either so I trusted my gut and stood a couple steps away from him when I left Lucifer's lap.
Not that standing away from him helped as he closed the distance and took both my hands swiftly, making me flinch but I resisted pulling away. Lucifer had nodded to me. He had indicated I was safe. I didn't understand why I sensed more danger off this man than I had Lucifer and why I was actually skittish around him.
The man closed his eyes and cocked his head and I felt a warm tight feeling in my chest that made me uncomfortable and made me feel a bit weak at the knees, like a morning after too many shots.
When the man opened his eyes and looked down at me his eyes were sympathetic and he placed a hand on my cheek. "Oh my dear..."
I raise an eyebrow at his actions and pull my hands free of his and step back from his touch. "What? What's wrong?"
"Nothing happened to you in this life to make you this way. You were born this way." He said, shaking his head and turning to Lucifer. "I looked through her history from the moment father conceived her as a thought. She was given life before her soul was complete."
Lucifer looked at his brother for a long time in silence before he smirked and started laughing. "And here I thought the old man didn't make mistakes."
Grabielle stiffened and the feathers on his back puffed up, "do not speak ill of father. What he did was done purposefully!"
Lucifer stopped laughing and looked back to his brother then at me and held my gaze for a moment before looking back to his brother again. "You're telling me he half made a human on purpose? Why? What
Purpose could she serve?!"
"I'm not sure brother. I couldn't read father's thoughts in her past beyond the ones that involved her creation. All I know is when she was half finished he said she will serve him well in an endeavor then he released her soul into her mother womb on her parents wedding night."
"Eww! DIDNT need that image in my head. Thank you." I snap as I move to go back to Lucifer, standing next to him and he wraps his arm around me.
Gabrielle shakes his head, "Oh please... look... Lucifer that's all I can give you for that's all I know. Allow me to speak with father about it and I'll write you with anymore information I find. Deal?"
Lucifer sighs and runs his hand up and down my arm, his claws gently tracing designs on my skin. "Fine. Now get out of my office and my realm."
The angel nods and bows lightly to me before turning, spreading his massive sets of wings and a large white portal of light opens and he steps through and it closes behind him.
Lucifer sighs heavily before leaning to rub his eyes with his free hand and I move to sit on his knee, "so... wanna talk about what just happened?"
Lucifer opens his fingers to look at me between them, not glaring but not pleased by my question, though he seemed to quickly understand why I'd ask it of him and he nodded and leaned back against his throne. "That was my brother Gabrielle. My father's favorite. The eldest of all his arch angels."
I nod, understanding why that would have been so upsetting for Lucifer then. Everyone who had ever heard of Christianity knew Lucifer had been cast from heaven by God so it made sense for him to be upset by his brother visiting.
"He said you wrote to him. Did you invite him here to inspect my soul?" I ask gently, taking his hand.
He nods, "all angels have a different gift with souls and creation and the like. I can take souls and keep them for myself in Hell and I was able to create Hell itself when my father cast me from heaven. Gabrielle can read souls and can create weapons of light with the energy he gets from those who pray through him to God."
"So he knows my whole life now? My every moment? Every thought?" I ask softly, looking down, my cheeks flushing.
He nods. "He does but he's very good with secrets. If he knows something isn't wanted to be known and it will cause no harm being kept he will not tell it. That much I can say in kindness about my brother." He assured, pulling me close. "I'm sorry. I should have told you I wrote him but... I wasn't even sure he would come and I didn't want to worry you over nothing if he didn't show up."
I look up at him and swallow the lump in my throat as thoughts buzz through my mind about how someone I don't trust in the slightest now knows everything about me, from What my first word was to es very dirty little thought I've ever had. But worst of all they knew my name. My real name. Madam knew it but had changed it when she took me in to keep my family from finding me and taking me away from her because indentured servitude was illegal on the isles and madam knew that, but I had not and she had never told me, not until I was older and realized I just didn't care anymore. I just wanted to be done with her and to do that I had to work and make money. But now here I was, in the lap of Lucifer, purposefully broken soul and my history known by an arch angel. How did I fucking get here?
