"I wanna be your someone. Even if being with Layla Arden is the only thing I accomplish in my life, I'd still say I was pretty successful."

Like Layla predicted, the lighthouse went the absolute opposite way John B predicted. Instead, John B assaulted the lighthouse worker after he questioned him, which led to the man calling the police.
After making a running escape, and having to walk back to Layla's home, she found JJ and Pope situated in her living room. Layla was beyond pissed at John B for his reckless actions but planned to not address it.
"I'll see you guys later," Layla stated, grabbing a small backpack she had packed. She grabbed her phone, placing it in her pocket. She then grabbed her keys.
"Wait, you're just leaving?" JJ questioned. He looked at her, rising to his feet from his seated position.
Layla scoffed. "I'm not sitting in this house waiting for two old men with guns to come here and brutally murder us. My 66-year-old grandmother lives here. I live here." She crossed her arms, shrugging. "I don't know what you guys have gotten us into." She glanced around, Kie and Pope having their glances downcast. JJ looked annoyed, and John B looked in disbelief.
"Where are you even going?" he questioned, glancing at her bag. He looked over at John B, feeling protective suddenly over his best friend's feelings. Layla was bailing on them.
What JJ failed to realize was that he was not feeling protective, as much as defensive towards Layla.
"Out." Her tone was flat, not revealing her plans for the night. She was going to Rafe's to drink and get high. She glanced at him, a hard look on her face. "You all are obviously more than welcome to stay here. Personally, I am not doing this today."
"JJ, let her go, man," Pope muttered to him from beside him. He looked down, completely understanding where Layla was coming from. If he was in her position, especially after the way JJ had hurt her feelings continuously.
JJ laughed bitterly, glancing around at everyone in the room. "You're going to Rafe's, aren't you?" His tone was defensive. He shook his head, looking down. "You're ditching your friends, for what? Some fucking Kook?"
Layla simply crossed her arms over her chest in response. She laughed sarcastically in disbelief.
"We're on a whole ass treasure hunt, and all you can think about is your little boyfriend," JJ stated with a snarky bite. He had a look of disbelief on his face.
Layla rolled her eyes, her arms tightening across her chest. "Believe it or not, JJ, my world doesn't revolve around what you would like for me to do."
"You're acting so fucking stupid." He simply shook his head.
His words infuriated Layla. Her arms fell from her side. He had pushed her over the edge. "I'm acting fucking stupid? I'm the stupid one? JJ, it's official, you are out of your fucking mind." Layla had defeat present in her voice. While it usually would, the stares of everyone else in the room didn't bother her. "First of all, you cheated on me because I was mad you almost shot someone. If that wasn't bad enough, you thought I got over you and you literally breaking my heart, so you go and sleep with the one bitch in the world I would actually like to strangle. I don't know why you are so fucking obsessed with Rafe Cameron. Get over yourself for five minutes. Not everything I do is to spite you."
JJ sat silently, his eyes not glancing up Layla. His lips were in a tight line.
"Wow," John B muttered to himself, sucking his lips for a moment. He then attempted to distract himself with his fingers as to not be involved with the awkward tensions.
"You, uh, you feel good, Layla?" JJ questioned, glancing up at her. His face held an unreadable expression.
Layla said nothing, feeling slight regret. She knew she had hurt JJ with her words. It wasn't her intention, but she had hurt him. She did not feel remorse, though.
With that being said, it wasn't a fraction of the pain he had caused her in the last few weeks.
"I'm sure you feel great." He took a deep breath. "Well, I've got some, uh, opinions, too." He nodded, looking up at her.
Kie shook her head. "JJ, don't."
"No, JJ, do," Layla fired, glancing at him.
"What, she just gets to scream at me and I don't get to respond?" JJ challenged, ignoring Kiara and turning to Layla. "First of all, you..."
JJ was somehow at a loss. Nothing the girl said was untrue.
"Anything else?" Layla sarcastically questioned. JJ sat silently, his eyes focused on her. Layla pulled her lips into a tight line. She gave a nod. "Night, everyone."
She then exited the house.
