6 - Dreams and Gabe

WARNING: MENTIONS OF ABUSE!!!

Annabeth's POV

As soon as Percy starts screaming we run into his cabin. I quickly realize that Percy is sleep.

"We have to wake him up!" Piper yells.

I walk over to his bed and as carefully as I can I start to shake him, "Percy," I say softly. "You're ok, it's just a dream, ok? You got to wake up Buddy."

Percy sits straight up in bed and looks around the room, his eyes wide with fear, "please don't hurt me!" He pleads. "I'll be good, I'm sorry!"

"Percy!" I say loudly to get his attention. "It's ok. It's me, Annabeth, and my friends. It's going to be ok. I'm right here, no ones going to hurt you."

He looks at me for a few seconds before deciding that I'm safe and he hugs me.

After about a minute of him hugging me I realize he fell asleep. I lay him back in bed and look at the others.

"What was that about?" Piper asks.

I sigh, "as much as I want to tell you I really shouldn't. Percy never told me about it, so I don't think he wanted us to know."

"We're his best friends!" Jason protests. "Why won't he tell us?"

"I know you two are very close, but trust me if he didn't tell me, his girlfriend of two years and one of his best friends of five years, he's not gonna tell you, you two have only known each other for about a year."

"I guess, but I still want to know what's going on with him."

"I do too, I only know a little bit of the story and I have a very strong feeling it's worst then what I and Sally know."

Poseidon's POV

I sigh as I listen to Annabeth calm Percy down and talk to their friends. It's hard listening to Annabeth talk about Percy past, but it was harder to watch Percy go through what he did. I would sit and watch, but there was nothing I could do because of the rules. Plus, I couldn't have Zeus finding out about Percy, he would have killed him.

"Hey, is he still a child?" Athena asks as she walks into the thrown room.

"Yes, he is Owlface, but only because your child hasn't figured out how to help him yet," I snap back. I feel bad insulting Annabeth because she is a very nice girl and unlike her mother, I have gotten over my anger of her dating my son and now I fully support them.

Athena starts to say something, but her face turns pale before she says anything, "what's wrong?" I ask quickly, knowing that if something happens my brother will blame me.

She holds up one finger to tell me to be quiet. I watch her for about a minute before she sighs, "Annabeth was praying to me."

"You say that like it's a bad thing."

"It's not! It's just what she wants to know."

"What does she want to know?"

"She wants me and you to talk to her and tell her exactly what happened to Percy. She thinks it will help her turn Percy back."

"So, you want me to tell you Percy's story, so we can tell her?"

"Yeah."

I think it over for a minute before I agree. We go to one of the gardens, so we can talk. A few hours later Athena is all caught up on Percy's childhood and we are ready to tell Annabeth and Sally because the unfortunate truth is that no one, not even Sally or me, knows fully what happened to Percy for ages 2 to 12.

I bring Annabeth and Sally into the garden.

"What am I doing here?" Annabeth asks. She looks around and sees her mom and I standing next to each other. "Are you two fighting again?"

"No," I answer quickly. "This is about Percy, well his past."

"What do you mean?" Sally asks, sounding very worried.

"Before I tell you anything, want do you know?"

"I know that Gabe used to yell at him and would hit him sometimes as a punishment," Sally answers.

"That's what I know, too." Annabeth says. "What else is there to know?"

"That he lied," I answer honestly.

"What?" Sally and Annabeth say at the same time.

"Gabe abused him. Everyday, for ten years, and he still does through Percy's dreams." I say quickly, knowing that both of them are going to very mad, and they are very dangerous when they are mad.

"He said he won't touch him," Sally says in disbelief. "Why did I believe him?"

"Sally," Athena says, speaking for the first time. "This is not your fault."

"Why didn't he tell me?" Annabeth asks a few moments later. "We tell each other everything, and he didn't tell me!" She turns to look at me, "why didn't he tell me?"

"That is a question I can't answer. You will have to ask him yourself, when he is back to his normal age."

"Yeah, that's the hard part, getting him to be nice to someone that none of us have any respect for."

"I know, but you have to keep trying."

"I will, now I need to get back to him. The others aren't very good at babysitting. There's seven of us and somehow none of them can watch a five-year-old without losing him."

"Can I come to camp, and see him?" Sally asks. "Just for a few minutes."

"Of course!" Annabeth says. "I'll bring you."

        Sorry, it took me so long to update this. I'm back and I have some new ideas, so get ready for more new chapters soon! I don't know when I will go back to posting regularly, but hopefully, it will be soon!
