Aurora

"Why would they put a target on me?" says Ve. Why would they want to attack him and not me? He's not to be a king, why would they attack him? It would do nothing but for...for his child not to become the next ruler. It would have to be Bray's, but why?

"The only thing that makes since is that they are trying to take out the possibility for the ruler after me. But that would make no sense since there is Braylon," I say to them.

My parents and brothers agree. It makes no sense unless they were to take out both of them. There is also still the slight chance my firstborn has my gift as well my father points out. The boys' guards are staring at Layden like he is about to attack us. Crap. I forgot about Layden's exposure, I think he forgot too. Layden turns to them and notices them staring. His eyes widen in realization of what had just occurred, his life long secret was exposed. There's no way my parents won't find out about it. The issue is when will they? Do they already know? Did they see the flames?

-------------------------

The night ends with the gala being postponed for now. We aren't sure of the death toll yet, but many attackers were captured. The majority was indeed low courts including some of Imizo and Capala. The other low courts had at least one of their members involved in the attack. Delphia we aren't sure if they were involved or if they say it coming and got out before it happened. Several of Oblivion were involved, hence the explosions. Courts are being interrogated by the Wisps. So far they have concluded that the leader stays out of the spotlight and never shows their face. Which means we don't know who began the attack. Imizo was heavily involved besides the grandparents and I believe the children who tried for Kingstrium. Those who weren't killed have been imprisoned with the Silencers and shackles. The shackles contain Troyen blood in stone. Obvious name, but it's known as Silencing Stone.

Some courts aren't taken for investigation such as Prasine, Audra, Hali, Makani, Troyen, and Chiron. Cyrus was with the Wisps because they saw the fire wall, but they all came clean. No Fearion was involved in the attack. That's when things start to go very strange and alarming.

When the other two guards say my guard was the cause of the flames, my father first calls for Silencers to come and take him away. I intervene them, "No! He is my guard and only created the wall to protect us. Ve and Bray can attest to that. Even the guards can tell you he did no harm."

My father lets us tell them what happened keeping two Silencers close just in case. "I don't understand though. Aurora, your guard is not a Fearion from what I knew," my father says.

"Uhm, can we talk in private? All of us," I say. My father agrees and the ten of us go to an office room. The two Silencers stay outside the doors since they know nothing yet. When the doors shut my father gets straight to business.

"Aurora, what is going on?" he says. I start to go into explanation when my father asks again, "I still don't get how he is a Fearion. I thought he was a Fleet or something."

I look to Layden and he looks to my father, "I'm a Morer, Sir." Everyone's eyes widen with surprise, fear, and wonder.

"How could this possibly be? Morers don't have this ability. You don't even have a flamering.." my father says. He trails off because it doesn't make sense. How can a Morer have this ability without a source of fire or a flamering?

The conversation continues with lots of questions and answers. One thing they are never told is about the other powerful Morers. We can't risk their safety since they think he is the only powerful Morer. "You're family, they don't have this ability?" my father asks him.

"No, Sir. They all have the basic Morer abilities," Layden responds. The King is puzzled. He isn't sure how to go about this. A Morer who can produce flame saved his heirs life. Killing him would be immoral, but what could happen?

He takes a moment to think then says, "Other court people had to of seen the flames. When the people find that Court Cyrus had nothing to do with the attack, they will question things. I have a proposition."

We all look confused as to what he could've thought of. He begins, "You will be a lost son of a Cyrus. The lord and his wife were killed roughly 16 years ago. Their child also passed away then but we can create a new story. The child survived and was found by a passing Morer. The family had raised him as their own."

The story shocks me and a question arises, "What about his eyes?"

"If someone asks, his eyes are from his mother a Velius. They tend to have gray or blue eyes," he says. "We will have to tie you to our family in some way so your secret will stay with only us. Go children, we need to discuss. Take Layden to one of the extra rooms in their wing for now."

We are escorted out by our guards. Layden won't be my guard anymore. I'll get a new one and he will have his own soon. He's going to be apart of the family. Will he be married to me? To Lainey? To Eve? A prince consort? What?!

Layden is given the room across from Ve's, diagonal to mine. When we are settled back into our rooms, more guards are placed at the end of the hallway. They leave my balcony alone so we can roam about our wing. Lainey and Eve are together in one of their rooms. I can't stand sitting still, so I go to the balcony. I sit there, looking to the waters. The last time I was here I saw a red bolt. What would I see this time?

Layden finds me first. Hard time being able to rest in unfamiliar territory. "Layden, this is going to be such a mess," I tell him.

"Yeah I know," he takes a deep breath. A breeze comes through and I shiver. Layden moves closer to me and wraps an arm around me. I lay my head against his chest and turn to him. He holds me there keeping me warm, safe, happy. His chin rests on the top of my head and then he kisses it. I'm glad my face is in his chest because I can feel how hard I'm blushing. Maybe things will turn out okay. Maybe I could have a life with him just different. The strong urge of electricity flowing through me comes again. It only happens when I'm with him. It's so strong this time I have to release it. I turn my head toward the water and let a bolt go in the sky. After a minute or two, the red bolt answers me again.
