Wands And Claws

Chapter One

Harry looked around the comin room of the Gryffindore house. The fire was warm and crackled away like usual, Harry knew that soon it would be Christmas, he was not ready to go home. Not back to the horid Dursley family. Even thinking about them made him feel queezy.

Hermione and Ron walked down the stairs, "Ready to go?" she asked. Hermione then realised that Harry was not in the best mood. "what is it?"

"uhm... Nothing" he mumbled, casting away the question. she blinked slowly and nodded. Ron yawned as he streached. "all right lets get going before Hagrid thinks we forgot!" he said as he walked towards the door.

They walked down the stairs quickly and quietly. Harry's wand held the light as they ran through the dark corridors.

As they made it out into the court yard there was a noise that made them stop in their tracks. "Harry! Come on!" Hermione hissed as she dragged him behind the wall Ron was already up against.

All they could hear for a while was their own heart beats

Finaly, after five minutes they decided the threat was gone. Slowly they walked back into the open. "now i wish i had braught my invisibility cloak!" Harry said as he shook his head.

A dark shadow blocked out the moon from behind Harry. The other two looked up and frowned.

"what in Merlins beard are you two doing down hear!?" Professor Lupin hissed as Harry turned around and stared at their teacher.

"sorry sir we where... Just" Harry stopped as he fumbled for an excuse. Hermione was not afraid to tell the teacher where they where realy going.

"It's Hagrid's birthday... And we are going to see him" Hermione said slowly.

Lupin stood up strait, "well then i gues i wont stop you... I-" he was stopped as the crunching of gravel announced another person's arival.

"Professor Lupin? Hermione? Harry!?" they all turned around as professor Mcgonagall walked towards them. "what are you all doing out of bed?" she asked.

"i think... Dare i say, we are all out for the same reason. Now, shall we go and see Hagrid?" Lupin said with a small smile as he mumbled the word under his breath and the light appeared at the end of his wand.

He turned around, "well, come on then... Dont want to be any later do we" the three followed him with Professor Mcgonagall bringing up the rear.

They walked down the path, "ow!" Lupin stopped as he heard a thud behind him. As he turned he saw Ron fall to the ground, "what happened?" he said as he lifted Ron to his feet.

"i dont know?" Mcgonagall spun around, she murmured a spell that lit up the night.

Lupin stared at the strange floating creatures, "run... Run!" he yelled as he grabbed the three teens and ran like hell pushing them towards the hut.

Mcgonagall ran after them, they crashed through Hagrids door. "close the door!" the four pushed against the wave of creatures to shut the door but they weren't strong enough.

There was a loud bang as Hagrid slammed the door shut and shook his head.

The five breathed deeply, as they turned around their eyes widened. "Albus..." Mcgonagall mumbled. Lupin ran a hand through his hair.

"what was that!?" "i dunno... Been hear for a while" Hagrid said.

Dumbledor took a drink of the tea and looked at the five who had burst through the door. "may i ask, what braught you hear?" he asked calmly.

"u-uh... Birday, Hagrid... Professors, and.... Oh, head master" Ron said. He stopped and stared at Dumbeldor. "oh, crud... We are in trouble, the head masters hear" he said as he frowned.
