"Renjun and Jeno will be partnered together."

Those words from the teacher were both a good thing and a horrible thing.

For Jeno, it was good because he actually did have a small crush on the boy. Something about his shy and distant personality was intriguing to Jeno, and because of it, he was determined to learn more about what this mysterious boy was hiding.

Renjun on the other hand wasn't so excited about it. He didn't like working with other people in general, especially not a popular student.

"So what do you want to do?" Jeno asked, sitting on his bed. "My parents are out. We can play video games, get food. Are you hungry?"

Renjun was busy looking around the younger's big room and shook his head. "Let's just work on this project."

Jeno sighed and went to his desk to turn on his computer. "So what is it about? We have to write a story based on both of our feelings combined?"

"Mhm," Renjun replied, standing awkwardly by the door. "Since this story will be a hot topic in school, I'll make up fake feelings so the entire thing is happy for your fans."

Jeno turned in his chair and tilted his head.

"Okay..."

*A month later*

"I'm bored," Jeno groaned. "Why do we have to write 50,000 words?! I mean, no story should be that long."

Renjun ignored him and continued typing random dialogue on the computer, making it look like there was more effort being put into it than there actually was.

*A month later*

The boy walked to the edge of the roof and held his arms out, taking a deep breath as he felt himself fading away. He closed his eyes, embracing the cold air that stung his face, but only made him feel alive again.

His thoughts came back to him, hitting him like a ton of bricks as he took one tiny step forward, wondering what it would be like to just finally be free.

Free from the stress of school, or his hopes and dreams.

Free from the constant resentment of his past self that he could never forget.

Free from his loneliness and own self-hate.

Free from the world that turned it's back on him when he needed them the most.

"Not yet," he whispered, taking a step back and looking out over the skyline that was lit up. "Not today."

"Holy shit Renjun," Jeno said in shock after reading the final chapter. With both of their ideas, they wrote a story about two characters who were polar opposites, but ended up falling in love.

After one of them passed away due to an accident, the other one, who used to bully him in high school, felt horrible, and wanted to get rid of the guilt. The last chapter was about how he coped with the death, and after contemplating ending it all, he ended up not doing it.
