Presentation Day

Alec's POV
I was only in the hospital a couple of days, 2 I think. I do have a mild concussion, it seems to be heightened because of my damage from the bullet. So I'm overly sensitive to light, my migraines are pretty bad too but it is getting better. Magnus' mom brought all of us food the entire time I was here. My parents and siblings visited during visiting hours the entire time I was in the hospital. Magnus didn't leave my side. He slept in my hospital bed and only left when I asked for something to drink.

"We aren't going to school today, right? Magnus asks while I am changing into the clothes my mom brought. She had to go back to work, she doesn't have a lot of leave left from work since the shooting. "Yes, we are. Why wouldn't we. We have that presentation today. You the health one?" I saw, slipping my shoes on. "Alexander... you need to rest. You have a concussion-" Before I let him finish, I walk over to him and rest my hands on her shoulders. "I am fine. Just a headache. I memorialized the whole presentation so I'll just ramble and it will over. I won't need to look at the presentation screen. Maybe we can do a half day or something."

Magnus bends up and kisses my cheek. "I hate presentations." I roll my eyes at the comment. I brush his flat hair back. "Oh love, don't touch this lifeless hair. I have no idea what I am going to do about this mop. I kiss his forehead and sling my backpack on my shoulders. "You're all set to go. If anything changes, do not hesitate to call or just come back in." A nurse says before slipping away again. "Your mom left your car so I can drive us today." He says, shaking the keys in the air which causes them to jingle.

We walk out of the hospital room and down the elevator, I squint my eyes while we are in the elevator. The lights are flickering which aggravates my head. "I think I left my sunglasses in your car so you should wear them if they are in there." He suggests when we step our of the elevator. I just nod my head. He slips his fingers into mine and almost guides me to my car, the sun almost blinding us as we walk through the parking lot.

The sunglasses happen to not be in the car so the ride to school is silent while I just lean my head against the window with my eyes closed. Magnus pulls into school and parks next to Jace's car. "Hey Magnus!" I heard when I step out of the car, its Izzy. "Alec!" I shut the door before she pulls me into a tightly embrace. "You should not-" With my usual attitude I say "Well, I have school. Presentation even." I pat her shoulder before I walk towards school. Magnus quickly runs up to me and takes my hand while we walk to my locker. "I will see you for class okay? I will have my phone with me. If something feels like it might happen... do not hesitate to text or call." Magnus says with a soft smile. I bend down and kiss his lips softly. "Okay." I whisper. The first few classes go by rather quickly, probably because I can not focus at all. Finally its time for our project and for some reason my mind is playing flashbacks from my coma and Magnus' and I's presentation.

"Hey, Alec." Magnus says, kneeling next to my chair. "It's our turn. You okay?" He asks. "Mags, I don't remember everyone going." I whisper so only he can hear. "I already told him you have a concussion and you did all the research. I'll just present it and we can go home, okay?" He smiles softly at me and helps me up. We walk to the front of the room and he sets up the presentation on the projector. The whole presentation, my mind interlocks my real vision and hearing with the memories from my coma. It gets so confusing on where I am and what is happening, the only thing that wakes me up is the polite clapping of the classroom.

Magnus and I walk back to our seats. I reach for my bag but Magnus puts it over his shoulder first. He takes my hand as we walk out of the room and to my car. "You okay?" Magnus asks after he turns the car on. "I think I just want to go lay down. Can you take me home?" I ask and rest my head on the window, taking his hand and resting it on my thigh.

Magnus parks against the curb in front of my house. "Will you come nap with me?" I ask, smiling softly. Before Magnus answers, he is at my door, almost lifting me out of my seat. I wrap my arm around his shoulders as he walk me inside and to my bedroom. "I'll grab you some water and some pain meds." He walks out of my room and I take my shirt off before sliding into bed. Just before I fall asleep, I feel Magnus slip into bed behind me. He spoons me and pulls the blanket up to my chin. Right as I am almost out cold, I feel him kiss the back of my head and whisper something... but I am not sure what it is.
