IN WHICH el comes back to hawkins too find that mike is no longer the "good boy"...
<3
a girl could only dream.
the one thing el longed for was for everything to be back to normal. she had wished that all those terrible occurrences last summer hadn't happened at all. in fact, if those things hadn't happened, she would be in hawkins, asleep in her boyfriend, mike's arms. or she would be watching television with her father, hopper.
instead she was all the while in illinois, slumped down in her seat at the byer's dinner table playing with her food. the silence was almost screeching, covering the room in absolute confidential. that is until joyce cleared her throat,
"so, i've got some exciting news." she said in a bright tone.
will glared at his mother, still chewing looking down at his plate,
"you got rid of the possums in the backyards?" joyce giggled to herself shaking her head, "well no, it's something way better."
el rolled her eyes and sat her head down on her fist, "is jonathan coming home for christmas?"
joyce set her fork and knife down whilst taking a deep breath, setting her hands on her lap with a smile plastered on her face, "we're going to indiana for the holidays."
el's spirits sky rocketed up, looking over to will as they both had a minute to freak out and celebrate this news. "wait when are we leaving?"
joyce looked at her wrist watch, "gosh darn- well right now i guess?"
el's eyes widened as the two ran up the stairs and started gathering their belongings.
little did el know, things have changed drastically.

a car pulled into the wheeler's driveway, catching karen's attention. a grin grew on her face, removing her apron and running to the door. "MICHEAL THEY'RE HERE!"
mike was sat on his bed, reading through a playboy magazine, cringing at the photos on display. his mother's voice pierced his eyes as he jolted and threw the magazine under his bed.
"MOM WHAT DID YOU SAY?-"
mike heard the front door open and familiar voices could be heard. mike's jaw dropped as he realized who those voices belonged to. he jumped off his bed and ran to his nightstand where his walkie was placed.
"DUSTIN? HELLO!"
mike flipped threw channels and finally landed on the right one.
"holy shit mike what do you want?" mike whispered, "i can't go to the hellfire meeting tonight! yo-you won't believe who's here. f-fuck my mom didn't even tell me they were coming TONIGHT."
dustin scoffed, "better be the god damn president at your house if your skipping a club meeting." mike looked behind him making sure he was still not noticed.
"yeah well something like that- el's here. EL'S HERE."
dustin dropped his walkie, he ran to pick it back up as his eyes were as wide as they could be. "sorry WHAT did you just say?! weren't they coming next week?"
as soon as mike was about to answer, he heard footsteps coming towards his room. mike disconnected his walkie and threw it on his bed and tided his room up even though it was a complete disaster.
a soft knock hit his door frame. he knew that knock VERY well. he slowly turned himself around in embarrassment. he feared that el would be disappointed at the way he's been living for the past couple of months. and oh boy was she angry.
