Morning came slowly, for me at least. We all took turns keeping watch, despite Finnick practically begging me to rest. It just didn't feel right doing so, so of course I kept watch when my turn came.

Even though I wasn't keeping watch all night, I found it hard to sleep. Its to be expected, even when surrounded by trustworthy allies.

When the morning finally did come, we wasted no time heading to the tree. Today was the day, today was the day they were getting out of here.

*Finnicks POV*

We were almost there, we had already lost Wiress, and we almost lost Peeta, thankfully, Katniss prevented that disaster.

As we walked through the muggy arena, I could hardly keep my eyes off Y/n. She's crazy to think that I'd let anything happen to her, she's practically insane to believe I'd leave here without her.

She's the love of my life, I needed to get out of here with her, if nothing else I needed to get her out of here. I'd already worked out a plan with Beetee and Peeta, if something were to happen to me, make sure she got out. Her over anything or anyone else.

My stomach churned as I thought about the future. When we get out of here, I'll be a father, I was already a father but it'd be much more real.

I could hardly wait.

*Y/n's POV*

We finally reached the tree, after an eternity of walking. My feel hurt, and they were covered with blisters. I was dirty and my hair was knotted.

If I were to be asked what happened between the time we reached the tree to about two hours after, I would tell them I didn't remember much.

We reached the tree, and I volunteered to follow Katniss. Finnick told me no, but I went anyways. Johanna cut out both of their trackers and I did mine to avoid having the Capitol know where we were at.

The lightening was striking at the tree now, dark simulated clouds hanging low in the air. Katniss looked at me before pulling off her bow.

She looked at the sky, at the force field. I knew what her plan was going to be before she put it into action, before she even completely knew what she was going to do either.

The only other thing I remember was hearing a loud explosion, then my ears as they ran, and then finally nothingness.

Complete and utter nothingness as I was shot back from the force of the explosion, my body slamming into a tree before I fell to the ground, unconscious, physically.

Being mentally aware while physically unconscious was a weird feeling. I knew I needed to stand up and find Finnick, and Katniss and Peeta, and Johanna and Beetee but I could not move. I was stuck.

I thought maybe I was imagining the sound of a helicopter at first but slowly, I realized it was real. Slowly, the realization that I was almost dead and they were coming to get my body, dawned on me.

I wanted to call out to anyone, to someone and have them know I'm still alive, but the best I could manage was the faintest whisper.

"Finnick."
