Chapter 18: The Truth

"Are you happy?" Eunwoo asked me. I looked at the ocean and sighed. 

I am happy. Very.

But I feel like it's wrong.

It's wrong for me to be happy because of you, Eunwoo. You have a girlfriend. 

I looked at him and nodded. 

"But..." I gulped. "Isn't this wrong?"

He laughed. "What? We're not doing anything wrong."

I bit my lip. "Eunwoo, you have a girlfriend. You shouldn't be spending time with me like this. We're not even friends. And the worse part is that we have a past together, so if I was your girlfriend, I will surely not be happy if I found out that you're spending time with your ex." I crossed my arms. "I don't want to hurt anyone, Eunwoo. I'm not that kind of person, and you know that."

He sighed. "I know that." He looked away. "That's why I brought you here because there's something you need to know."

I stared at him. What is he talking about?

"I..." He gulped. "I lied to you, Jisoo." 

"What do you mean?"

"Nayeon and I..." He sighed. "We're not really together."

What?

"We pretended to be together, so I could make you jealous. I want you back, Jisoo, that I thought making you jealous is one of the ways that I could do for that to happen."

I can't believe this.

I started walking away from him, but he held my wrist. Fuck, I am so mad.

"Jisoo, wait." He bit his lip. "I am so sorry. Nayeon, we are best friends, so when she suggested that to me, I thought that her idea was right. I...was so stressed on how you'll be able to forgive me that I just said yes immediately."

I clicked my tongue. "Eunwoo, can you hear yourself right now? Do you think what you're saying is making sense? DO YOU THINK YOU REALLY DID THE RIGHT THING? THAT YOU'RE INNOCENT? THAT LYING TO ME WAS OKAY BECAUSE...JUST BECAUSE YOU WANTED ME BACK?"

IS HE SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?

"No, that's why I am so sorry. I wanted to tell you the truth before, but I got scared that...this will happen."

I sarcastically laughed. "Do you think I'll be happy that you lied to me? Eunwoo, what are you thinking? I....I just can't deal with this right now."

He was about to stop me from running away, but I pushed him. "Don't follow me. Please."
