Yes! Finally, let's look at the begins of development here in Thanatos and Aurora's relationship.
Alright, so it was Aurora who made the call off first and decided to break the barrier of their childish feud between them. Her realization of their strange attraction towards one another made her horrified and as well as think more rationally.
They are both adults, bickering and pulling one close and pulling away is child's play, what were they doing? It's time to act civil. This revelation is also mostly for the benefit of Aurora thinking that if they stopped fighting, then this strange connection can wither down. And so she apologizes, much to Thanatos' surprise.
First impressions are always the stickiest in one's mind. So for Thanatos, who has always thought of Aurora to be a rude and rebelling girl, to hear her apologize- well it's quite a shocker there.
Apologies are acknowledges of offense or failure, a correction towards something or someone. It is indeed a source of value when it comes towards the area of fighting, spoken genuinely of course. So for Aurora to apologize, it opens up so many doors for them to go through- together.
Even thought Thanatos thinks she bonked her head on the side of the marble pool, I can tell he is pleasantly pleased by her correction. He didn't make any arrogant comments or rub her misguided thoughts in her face, he accepted it slowly.
I want to take a moment to discuss the area they are currently in right now, which is Thanatos' study.
"; even the gardens were less manicured than those out front."
The study is usually an office space for people to do their work and other personal business there. I expected no less that it would be less luxurious than the rest of the palace. People may think of it as tidy and clean and stained with gold at every touch, but then that wouldn't be a study.
That's just a showroom.
And most of Olympus is a showroom.
See the connection between Thanatos and his palace, his empire. The palace is lined with gold and marble, the throne is as dashing as ever and can wow even the most unimpressed Grinch. However, if you look further inside the palace- that is if you can bypass the numerous guards ready to strike anyone down, you would see a more mundane sense of style in the smaller rooms, the rooms belonging to the emperor.
The palace is literally an embodiment of Thanatos and his true implications towards the luxuries of life. Does he enjoy them? Hell yes he does, but does he also require the sense of simplicity and quiet? Yes.
And did you notice the color of the marble? It beige. A usually dull color that royalty would not likely pick, because if doesn't have that pizzazz or x factor to wow their guests. Thanatos doesn't need that here, this place is truly his. He can decorate how ever he wants it to be.
He has a reputation to up hold. Therefore he needs to create a alter ego with different interests that fit his 'supposed' character.
Now, the matter of why Thanatos wants to teach Aurora Blood magic...
Well, it's the only excuse he has to actually get to know her. He can lie all he wants that he is helping her to be an archmage- actually he may truly want her to be in that position because that means she can be close to working with the royals- aka him because there's no way he will let his other siblings- or mother- to be near her.
Notice how their started bickering created a distance between them? Literally. And the fighting that usually puts a rift between them has to do with their impressions of each other.
They think they know one another from the head to the heart. But in reality, they don't. They are confusing knowing each other's history as translation to knowing who they actually are, meaning their heart, how they felt during those events, what they had to do during the events- the truth.
But they are not listening. Then again, this is the first development so a understanding is in due time.
The moment I absolutely adored was between their both shared acknowledgement of each other. Thanatos showed a rare side of care for her by scolding her and warning her of doing such a highly dangerous spell connected to blood magic. He could have done the same for anyone else, but with her, his scolding is tender and soft to get her to understand.
And Aurora finally acknowledges Thanatos as her teacher and he lights up. This makes Aurora realize how genuinely handsome and adorable he can be without the façade of a heartless emperor. More approachable.
And now, now that Aurora recognizes Thanatos' ability to be a decent being, she admits she wants to try to level off their relationship to see how far they can go for each other. She isn't thinking about the plan anymore, that prospect is long gone. Now she is going by her own rules with dealing Thanatos and she will trek lightly towards the brooding emperor.
Alright, Nyx. Spies. In a palace that technically does not belong to her.
She is so obsessed, actually practically paranoid that Thanatos is keeping secrets from her that she has spies in is own palace. He, the emperor.
She really earned the audacity as the queen mother to be executing such a pathetic way to spy on her son and the happening of the palace through this. She should be afraid though. If Thanatos and Aurora's relationship will mature more and more, he will further distance himself from her toxicity and comments.
And she will know something is up.
It is highly crucial that Aurora may never cross Nyx's path for fear of her life. Nyx knows a threat to her plans when she sees one. Even if she may not believe it at first, she will get to know Aurora as the woman who stole her son away from her. And then there's Eris.
Eris is going to be furious that her brother is harboring a mortal in his chambers, and granting her affection no less.
And shadow is appearing next chapter! Hopefully we get progress of their relationship know that she and his master have come to decent terms with each other.
And we will hopefully see Thanatos and Nyx in a fight together... maybe Nyx will get knocked in the throat... SUGGESTIONS!
The meeting is mostly going to be about the engagement, Thanatos' distancing, and other things...
Let's hope the wicked bitch of the South won't give her son too hard of a time...
