Draco scooped Harry up in his arms and whisked him out of the Defence classroom, practically running through the halls to the Hospital Wing.
"Dray i can walk"
"Absolutely not, not until Madame Promfrey says you can"
Harry chuckled and winced, which only made Draco worry more and go just that little bit faster to the Hospital Wing.
Soon they arrived and Draco kicked the door open loudly shouting at practically the top of his voice for Madame Promfrey who came running out of her office with a worried expression on her face. It had been hard on Poppy to continue her job after the war, the hardest body she attended to was Fred Weasley, she had seen him grow up, she was the first one to touch him when he died and it broke her heart nearly every day, but she composed herself and hurried over to a frantic Draco.
"Whats happened? Who are you carrying?"
"It's.. It's Harry, he got hurt in Defence, our spells connected and sent an explosion, he used his magic to make me not be hurt but he landed really hard on the ground, and he's just fainted"
"Oh dear, well set him down here i'll do some checks"
Draco trudged over to the nearest bed, unaware of the tears streaming down his face, he lay Harry down staring intently at his unmoving faces, tracing every line and curve with his eyes, paying attention to the shallow rise and fall of his chest, willing his emerald eyes to open and look into his.
He gripped Harrys hand in his own, not paying attention to the questioning look he was receiving from Madame Promfrey, only caring about the boy lay before him, cheek still bleeding, and bruise getting darker by the minute.
He looked to Madame Pomfrey who looked as if she was just finishing up her checks, he furrowed his brow in a silent question,
"Right Draco, there's nothing magically wrong with him in terms of what happened with your spells, I cant be sure until he wakes up but I believe he has a concussion, maybe a fractured rib, and a broken wrist, I think it was the pain that made him pass out, I can fix the bones while he's asleep, and try and wake him up, but nothing really until he wakes up"
She looked at him then and saw the tears, and the fear in his eyes,
"He's going to be just fine"
She watched as his shoulders relaxed and felt a pang in her heart, she remembered all those years ago, telling a young boy what was wrong with his love, watching the fear and upset grow in his eyes until all she could do was leave him to hold his and lean his head on his chest, sometimes she would hear a faint sob and her heart would break even more, why did the best boys have to go through so much pain?
Harry felt a squeeze on his hand and his eyes opened, he looked around to bright lights, he was in the hospital wing. Looking around he caught Dracos eyes staring intently into his.
"Harry! Thank Merlin your awake, Madame Promfrey told me that you have to take these potions as soon as you wake up"
Draco practically teared the lids off three potions and stuffed them one by one down Harrys throat, through a mix of choking and swallowing he took the potions and lying back down he looked at Draco who had taken his hand once more and was looking at him with a mix of worry and protectiveness.
"I'm fine Dray"
"You are not fine! You passed out! I was so scared Haz.."
Draco paused and Harry saw the sadness behind his eyes, he had already lost so much, his father, his family name in tatters, his mother being so far from home. Harry held his face in his hands and told him,
