Hermione was sat in an armchair on the second floor of the common room. Surrounded by very heavy looking books, mounds of parchment and several splashes of ink. She was furiously scribbling down notes and biting her lip, muttering random sentences every few seconds.
Draco wandered over wondering just what exactly the Gryffindor was doing, on a Saturday, looking as though she was about to take her NEWTS in a matter of minutes. It had been a week since Harry was admitted into the Hospital Wing and thankfully after an agonising two days, he was released.
Currently, though he was with Lupin and Black, all three of them having a lovely family meeting, about what Draco had a sneaking suspicion, but wasn't too concerned. Turning his attention back to Granger he continued his walk, he himself with several books in hand, along with his bag.
He plopped himself very un-Malfoyish causing Hermione to jump, taking her attention away from whatever she was writing down,
"Draco? What are you doing here?"
"I just have a few things to finish up for Potions, also Harry is talking to Professor Lupin and Black so-"
"So you have nothing to do except wait for him to come back so you can snog"
He laughed at her bluntness, Pansy was certainly rubbing off on her, however, he did silently agree with her on the snogging part.
"Not quite, Hermione, I also came up here to help you, I'm assuming you're looking for a Memory restoring charm?"
"Yes," She spoke quietly, looking down at her notes,
"I'll show you what I've got and then you can see what you make of it"
She handed him a stack of paper which he began to flick through, eyes skimming over the different charms or potions she had noted down. Sitting down into an armchair next to her, he put them back into a neat stack.
"You've got a good idea with both the Memory charms and the Enhanced Memory Potion. The only case I've ever seen where memory is restored fully without complication is,"
He faltered, remembering when he had seen a memory charm being wiped,
"Through extreme torture.. and the use of the Crutiatus curse"
She looked at him, horror etched into her features,
"But of course there would be no chance of that being used on your parents"
Hermione breathed out, no there wouldn't be.
"I think we could possibly combine the two methods though, the Memory potion enhances ones memory, in order to remember specific details, if we incorporated that into the Memory charm, and have the charm do the opposite effect. There's a high success rate"
Her face lit up,
"Oh, of course! I don't know why I didn't think of that before, here"
She dropped a rather heavy book into his hands and turned to a particular page,
It is very probable that there is a specific counter-charm for the Memory Charm, Obliviate, as long as the charm is correctly applied, thereby restoring one's thoughts and/or memory, similar to the Memory Potion. The Memory Potion enhances the drinker's memory, boosting their mental cognition.
"I found this in some notes that were left in the back of a charms book, probably someone's homework, NEWTs probably, No one exactly knows what the counter-charm is though, I've been looking all over and I can't seem to find any"
Draco looked up at her, she seemed stressed, distracted,
"Hey, we'll find out, I promise, it will be okay"
