Faulty Snow

I want the white snow beneath my barefoot feet.

The cold seeps into my calloused skin.

I've never felt so warm.

I take another step.

And another.

And a few more

I'm running now.

I'm free from the words that were behind my back.

I take one last one

and I fall through the snow.

Crisp and pristine white water breaks through my feet.

My stomach drops.

I trusted you

You were stable and ground.

You were my freedom.

and now you're gone.

Lying to me.

you tricked me with your beauty.

i turn around to see how far I've fallen.

I'll never hit the ground.
