Chapter 7

Dominic woke to the sense of magic, his senses on alert. He hopped out of his bed, and walked through the hallway into the living room. As he entered the room he saw out the window a flash of blue light from on the porch. He opened the door quickly, ready to strike whatever might be waiting to strike him first. He looked about, puzzled as he didn't see what might have been waiting to strike at him.

Looking down at the ground he spotted Avery and her siblings, taking full note of Finius and his equipped sword. He raised an eyebrow, shaking his head. "You're early, Avery. You weren't supposed to come back until mid-morning. Come on in. Avery... I remember you saying you were bringing your fiance, where is he?"

"I got word while I was there that his hero came, and when your hero comes, you cannot deny your calling. I have faith that I will meet him again, even if it takes years." Avery looked at her siblings. "Come on guys, there is much to do to get you all ready for travel through the portals."

Dominic watched as Avery had her siblings file past. When they were all inside he closed the door and went over to his pack. He had been keeping a close eye on Avery as she was with her siblings so he would know how many more boxes he would need to make. He started to open his bag, taking out boxes. Avery noticed that Dominic's bag was different. Bigger. "New bag?"

"Yes, when I saw how many siblings you had, and your mother's death, I asked mother to requisition a bigger bag for me. There are quite a few things that I am taking back that I didn't intend to. Here are the boxes, prepare them Avery, and I'll get to you before we leave. Ok?"

Nodding, she directed her siblings to the boxes that were designated to each of them. Once they were inside each of their respective boxes, she dragged the lids onto each one, putting her siblings to sleep for the journey. When they were all settled into their sleeping boxes, Avery dragged her own box out of the bag, propping it against the frame of the door. She stepped inside and closed the door, falling asleep almost instantaneously. The last thing to be done would be to secure her door and then the journey would begin.

Dominic was saying the rest of his farewells to everyone, wishing them luck in his training. His final farewell was to little Draco Nasume, whom one day, he knew, would eventually meet his daughter, and they would become a group that eventually would be feared.

Already he was coming up with names that he thought would fit the eventual child members that would defend honor, dignity, and the ways of peace. His main concern however, was getting back to the one he was going to be marrying, and getting on with his life in his own village. He smiled at his younger siblings, and swore that one day he might return and visit them, possibly give them missions of importance. That day would be very far off indeed though, as he still needed to train those they would be fighting with.

"Well, mother, it is time for me to leave. The days have passed, and I need to be getting back to my village."

"Don't worry about things on this end; I'll make sure they get done."
"The only thing I worry about on this end of the world, mother, is you."

"Stop flattering an old lady, and finish packing your bag. This is going to take a lot of extra energy than I would like to spend, but I want you to only have to teleport once."
Smiling to himself, he stooped down and started placing each of the boxes in his bag, setting them so the weight would remain balanced. He put Avery in last, and placed a thin sheet on top of them all, tucking down the sides to ensure that no one fell out. Shouldering his pack, he picked up his father's sword, and clipped it to his belt.

"I will miss you, mother."
"And I you, child." Sheturned him about and pushed his shoulders gently, shoving him light-heartedlyout the door. "Your portal waits!" She exclaimed, slamming her staff down onthe wooden surface of her porch, opening a portal at the base of the stairs. Itwas with a deep breath that he exhaled and stepped down from the porch, andinto the portal, welcoming the dizzying sensations of being transported bymagic. Only welcoming it though, so as to get back to his village, and hislove.
