Detective Wayne Forge and Lieutenant Neil Warren stood in the alleyway as the EMT stretchered the corpse into the ambulance, while the forensics team were on the site looking for clues on the murder that had happened. This was seventh murder that had occurred in Brooklyn just in two weeks and was slowly putting the citizens in a friendly and the media didn't help either especially over-sensationalising the murder causing people of New York to believe that they were probably going to die soon with its tabloid-like headlines. However one detail of these murders was surprising, all the victims were men, all able-bodied, well-to-do men but another grim detail remained, The manner of the murders. All the men that were murdered had their genitals roughly carved out and their eyes too, "Killing is one thing, carving out balls and eyes--Damn, whoever did this had a lot of time on their hands", remarked Lt. Warren while Wayne agreed with a nod and went deep in thought, They had no lead on who the killer was but Wayne believed it were a woman, carving out a man's genitals from his body seemed like something an unhinged female would do but in a city where religious figures were ungodly pimps and the average Joe could be a war criminal that had massacred thousands, There was no telling who was who. Crimes like these represented the underbelly of New York, the underworld the media didn't quickly pickup until it had reached an alarming rate, Wayne was interrupted in his thoughts as the CSI had come on to scene, "Another one" said one of them, " Afraid so" Wayne remarked as they had begun to investigate, looking for clues as to why he was murdered. Wayne was about to leave the scene and head back to the station, prepared to handle this case but he remembered when he first said that from the first murder and six murders later, he was burnt out. Everyone that they had taken into custody for questioning had led to a dead end, no lies, no suspicious behavior--Damn who ever was behind this wasn't reckless enough to leave clues, they'd been messy yet clean with their murders, no fingerprints, no fibre, no nothing. Just a corpse with cavities. In Wayne's six years on the force he hadn't seen such but this was the grim reality of his job, the reality of knowing that New York's heralded guardian didn't handle such cases, The Crimson Eagle. Little did he know.
