Side note why don't they ever talk about Derek's dad?? Why does he have his mother's last name? Is it because she's the alpha? Who is his father? Head cannon, it's Deucalion.

You were bitten by an alpha. You weren't dying which meant you were turning. According to your family's code you were supposed to kill yourself before your first full moon, before you could fully turn.

You didn't do that, obviously. Instead you ran away and you became an omega.

For a few short months, you were on your own, struggling to survive. Not to mention you couldn't control it. You didn't know how. But you did know how to survive the hunters.

You had no idea where you were. All you knew was that Chris was near and so was your father. Your own family was hunting you.

You weren't alone in the woods. As you were running, you almost collided with two other werewolves. Two very cute guys but that's beside the point.

They were both young, young enough that the hunters wouldn't kill them. Just take them. To werewolf jail. Well that was what you and Kate jokingly called it. (It was probably Eichen house Chris was talking about when he said there was a place he could take Kate)

You heard wolves howling. You recognized the recording. It was just an audio track, not real wolves or werewolves.

The younger one pointed out, "There could be others out there"

You had to say, "Or it's an audio track played by the hunters. It's a hunters' trick"

The older cuter one of the two asked, "How do you know that?"

You quoted your father, "Know thy enemy"

That wasn't why you knew that but those two did not need to know you used to be a hunter. A hunter that never actually killed anyone by the way.

The older one said, "We should get going and stick together. The three of us"

And you did. The boys ran and you ran after them. You guys ran to a hiding place: a Nemeton root cellar. You recognized the five knot Celtic symbol on one of the branches but you didn't bring it up.

Once you were safe, the boys introduced themselves. The younger was Derek and the older was Peter, Derek's uncle. You introduced yourself as well. You told them an altered version of your story: you didn't include your last name, the fact that you were a hunter. Just that you were bitten and have pretty much been on the run from hunters ever since. It was the truth, just not everything.

"You can't control it, can you?" asked Peter.

You answered, "No"

"I can teach you if you'd like"

"Yeah, that'd be for the best"

And he did. He taught you control using the triskelion and the mantra: alpha, beta, omega. You could feel yourself getting calmer every time you repeated the words. But it wasn't the words that calmed you.
