Jaylee's POV

We all followed each other in a single filed line as we slowly made our way out of the basement. No words were spoken during this silent time since we all agreed on keeping a low profile. We didn't want to alert the Jacks without having defensive weapons in our hands.

Louis was leading us all as Liam trailed behind, then Zayn, then me, then Niall, then Harry. We were crouched down slightly as Louis approached the door before looking both ways in silence, waiting for any sign of human presence. He then waved his hand as our cue before we started walking in the house, searching for weapons.

I stuck with the baseball bat while Zayn stood close by my side as the others began parting ways. I watched through the dusty house as the group began searching for their weapons in the living room, being extra cautious of their surroundings. I've never heard us be so quiet before. I swear I couldn't even hear our own breathing, just my rapid heartbeat. Zayn reached for my hand, showing me that he wasn't going to leave my side ever again.

I looked down as our hands slowly intertwined, wondering what life would of been like if we had met in a different situation. Would I have fallen for Zayn Malik if he wasn't in a gang? Who knows, because this is the reality. I gave him a light squeeze as he looked down at me, warming me up with his close body heat.

"I would of ripped this place to shreds if it meant finding you and seeing you again. You don't know how much it means to me that you came back." Zayn whispered awfully quiet as I slowly looked up to meet his gaze.

"I would of never forgiven myself if anything ever happened to you Jaylee. This world doesn't deserve you. You're so precious to this life." He spoke softly before his other hand reached for my face. I allowed him to cup my cheek before he began tracing my skin with his thumb. I could feel Zayn's love and care through his touch alone, suddenly feeling a slight connection with him. I knew it would be wrong to fall for him, or any of them in fact, so I had to hold my emotions to not be distracted from my goal.

If we win, I go home. That's the deal. I can't have Zayn or Niall or any one of them be the reason I don't go back to my family. It would be absolutely selfish of me to choose them over the life I have back home. My parents don't deserve that. And I don't belong in their world. It just can't work. If only they would leave this gang life and become normal people again... then maybe I would give them a chance.

"A life without you is so pointless." He said as he shook his head while looking deeply into my eyes. I felt touched by his words, but I knew he was losing his focus. If his head is stuck on me it could deprive him of his skill and wise mindset.

"We can do this Zayn. We can win. Let's go get your weapon." I whispered back as I placed my hand over his, rubbing my thumb over his warm skin to comfort him.

He smiled before he nodded his head and led me through the house carefully, keeping his eyes out for any sudden movement. I held the bat tightly in my other hand as I trailed behind him, looking around myself in case of danger.

We then approached the side of the house where the others were gathered and crouched, slowing down our pace to see what they were concluding. "Zayn, here." Liam whispered as he tossed Zayn a gun. Zayn quickly released my hand to grab it with both of his before he nodded his head as a thanks.

"What's the plan?" Zayn whispered as we all huddled close together in the corner. I began to feel warm by all of their body heat as I watched Louis look out the window. "They're definitely out there, all 6 of them." Louis whispered, causing my heart to pump rapidly.

"They're being too causal. They won't expect us to be alive." Niall whispered as he peered out the window as well.

"You said that something on us vibrates when we win right?" I suddenly asked before they all looked at me.
