I left.

With her in my arms.

Just me and this sleeping beauty.

It was impulsive of me to leave just like that, but no one even attempted to hold me back.

They knew what I said was right.

The thin line between the actions of heroes and the actions of villains were crossed, the line was no more.

. . .

Ethics is what is leading humankind now.

No more 'hero system', just a law.

A law to protect and grant the basic human rights to everyone. Sure, there were heroes still in action but they were more vigilante volunteers to fight off any threats and or criminals. Many heroes have registered as a vigilante, and some villains have too.

Surprisingly, Da-Toya was one of the few from villain to vigilante, and he provided medical care to Y/n. He said something about repayment for her healing his untreatable scars.

"God, what's holding you back kid? Why won't you wake up already?" I give her hand a squeeze, hoping for movement, just a reflex is fine too.

Her index finger twitches. I would've sighed and let it go as a false alarm, if her hand didn't squeeze mine.

"Baby bird?" I call out, and the pair of eyes I prayed to see once more opens. "Doctor! Doctor!"

I call for the doctor, panicking, it seems to take her a few tries for her eyes to fully open and meet mine; but it eventually does. They are mesmerizing. Just like when we first met, and all the times I stared into her eyes after that; they drew me into them, in a trance.

"God, baby bird...I'm so glad...I'm so glad you're okay..." Tears pricked the corners of my eyes, an overwhelming feeling of a weight lifted from my chest washing over me. "How are you feeling? A-are you hurting anywhere?"

She tried to speak, but failed. Right she just woke up from her coma. She raised her hand and felt her inspected her neck, gently rubbing on the place of the slight bump of her adam's apple, her hands quickly retracted flinching at the soreness most likely.

"Don't move too much, your body is still healing itself." I haven't noticed the slight difference in her aura, her eyes didn't hold any amount of affection towards me. They were warm, yes, but they weren't even close to the eyes I knew to be her's.

I was lost in my thoughts.

Toxic ones at that.

'Is she still angry at me?'

She's not that petty!

'She must be disappointed in me.'

Is she?

'Or-'

The last question was answered before I even finished pondering over it.

"Who are you?"

I was baffled, and frankly her question threw me off even though I was aware of the possibility. "C'mon baby bird are you playing with me? Are you still mad at me?"

"S-sorry mister, but I really can recollect any memory of you." She called me mister!

"Why?! After I just got you back..." The word devastated can't even fathom the feeling of horror currently running through me. "Do you really not remember anything?"

She slowly nodded her head. "I'm sorry mister."

"Keigo." I said, wanting anything but for her to call me 'mister.'

"Pardon?"

"Keigo Takami, that's my name. Call me Keigo." I grit my teeth, 'god why didn't I think of this possibility?'.

"Okay, uhh..my name is-"

"You don't remember your name?"

She hesitates, but nods. "I'm afraid so."

"Mr. Takami? We'll need you to wait outside the room while we run some tests on her." A doctor chimes in, de-escalating the tension building up. "We have also notified Mr. Todoroki about everything, he's on his way here."

Great.

At least I can leave Y/n in his care while I sort out my thoughts and get some fresh air for once.

Think positive Keigo.

That's what she told you to do, remember?

Y/n's safe, and wake now; that's all that matters.

For now.
