[Discontinued] Light of a New Beginning (Destiny x RWBY)

A Vexing Problem

     I never really liked the vex, they were never really as interesting as the Hive or Eliksni. Osiris would beg to differ, but he also rarely left the Infinite Forest. They were always problematic regardless, portal here, change timeline there, never really tiring as they worked against us. Though that portal takes the cake, it was the strangest thing that we ever encountered. A portal to a completely different world? Now that was something that needed to be investigated, maybe don't bring two hunters with you though.

--Earlier That Day--

     "So... they want us to check out a weird vex portal on Europa?" I asked, while mixing the waffle batter.

     " Yeah, apparently it has something to do with an alternate timeline or parallel universe...I wasn't really listening" Selina trialed off as her interest in the topic diminished.

     I poured the batter into the iron, setting down the cup I made my way to the couch to see the current Crucible score.

     "Don't worry," Mist chimed in "I'll send Ghost the transcript I recorded"

       Mist, Selina's ghost, seemed like the complete opposite of Selina. Her calculating and cautious nature seemed to make up for Selina's spontaneous and energetic personality. Those traits were quite befitting of her hunter class. Maybe that was why I liked her company, it brought me out of my comfort-zone, yet kept me comfortable.

    "What's the score?" Leo-3 said jumping onto the green cushions next to Selina.

    Selina nearly dropped the cup of coffee that she had been milking for an hour now, turning to glare at Leo for disturbing the peace she was having. Stella, Leo's ghost, floated into the kitchen, her bright blue Rival Hunter shell glistened from the morning light coming through the apartment's window.

    "Cara," she called out "Aren't you cooking?"

    "Twirling Taken!" I cussed rushing into the kitchen to turn the waffle iron. Leo laughed at my comment.

     Sighing I look at the mess I made while cooking. Picking up the egg shells off the marble counter and tossing them in the trash can. I pulled the door to the fridge open glancing at the sparse content inside. I picked up the merger amount of bacon and placed a skillet on the stove.

         It hadn't sizzled for more then 5 minutes before our fourth and last roommate walked into the room. I glanced at his red wrinkled pajamas, clashing with his blue skin which tilted into a light purple. The swirls of light on his face moved in a similar fashion to Selina's. The awoken pair could have easily been siblings. Though they differed in personality considering that Selina's a Hunter and Wolf, her look alike, was a Titan. Another might be the fact that they never seemed to get along.

     "Bacon" he said with a sigh. His ghost Winter, in his shiny Lion Guardant shell, floated over his left shoulder.

      After I finished cooking I quickly  fixed plates for my small fireteam. Two slices of the finished bacon and a large waffle. I buttered Wolf and Selina's, while drenching Leo's in syrup. I put a mixture of both on mine and set them on the small dining room table.

    "Let's leave soon," I called over the clinking of the plates hitting the table. "I really don't want to be on Europa late into the day."

   Wolf walked toward the table while Leo and Selina took their time to get up from the couch.

"We gear up and leave in an hour, and that means showers people!" I ordered

    Ghost, my ghost, floated off to speak with the others. Presumably about the resent mission give to us by Ikora Rey. He was the perfect counter to my personality, his sense of duty kept me on topic and prevent me from staying in libraries everyday. As Ghost would say 'Classic Warlock'

-- More then an hour later --

     I adjusted the auto-rifle in my hand as we neared the Nexus, replacing the clip inside False Promises.  I glanced at Leo-3, his Iron Trudge armor looked nice on him, the fur on his cape rustled in the icy winds.  I bit my lip repressing a memory I spent years trying to forget. The mechanical whirling of the Vex snapped my attention back to the matter at hand.

   I nocked my void bow, releasing a poison arrow into the radiolarian chamber of a goblin, nocking another and pulling it back. I could hear the pulling of triggers from behind me, the blasting of a hand cannon, and the continuous fire of a rifle. The shattering of harpies, goblins, and the explosion of a minotaur echoed in the frozen caves.

   Slowly we made our way to the glowing geometric portal, I hadn't seen anything like this on Mercury or even when I was fighting Panoptes. It seemed to warp the reality around it...more so then normal portals did. I could see the faint trickle of snow near the portal. Which was not something out place on the tundra of this moon, but upon closer inspection the snow was floating in from within the portal.

     "Snow," I pondered as I looked closely at it "How peculiar."

     "Considering we're on a frozen moon... is it really?" asked Selina.

    I could imagine the look on her face, one that told me I was pointing out the obvious.

   "Well considering that it is coming from within the presumably chasm within reality," I added "This is sort of a big deal, this could very well mean that they broke through our reality and bridged it to another"

   "Yikes!" Wolf said, with what I would presume a grimace on his face, though I couldn't see it through his Righteous helmet.

    "Yeah, yikes is an understatement," I explained "We should be careful investigating"

   "Or we can go inside and find out what their planning!" Leo shouted while jumping in the portal.

  "No!" I cried out, reaching to grab his cloak but missing.

  I shook my head in disappointment. Selina followed after, giving me a half shrug while stifling laughter.

  "Guess we are hopping in for a field investigation." Wolf added with a slight nod "We'll rendezvous on site" 

"See you there" I said with a sigh. "Ghost send Ikora a message, tell her 'Due to a bit of a mishap, we will be investigating where the portal leads. Don't worry if we go MIA, we will find a way back.' After that Let's go!"
