"Hello there." Elijah smiled down at Mallorie as his gaze landed on her again.
Mallorie held his eye contact and almost felt the fear begin to ebb away. However, as he stepped toward her again, the panic built up again. Despite his soft features, his eyes still spooked Mallorie. They were so dark and unemotive.
"We have a long journey ahead of us. We should be going." Mallorie couldn't quite place his accent, but it was old, even more reason to be afraid.
Mallorie sidestepped to face Rose. "Please, don't let him take me."
Rose looked at the floor.
Elijah turned his head to face Mallorie. "One last piece of business and we're done."
He backed away a few steps before turning completely. Mallorie tried to get her breathing under control as he walked toward the other two. Stefan and Damon were on their way. Any minute now, they'd burst through the door. It'd be four-on-one. No way Rose and Trevor wouldn't fight with those odds, right?
"I've waited so long for this day, Elijah. I'm truly, very sorry." Trevor's voice quivered as he spoke.
"Oh no, your apology's not necessary." Elijah circled Trevor.
Trevor nodded. "Yes, yes it is. You trusted me with Katerina, and I failed you."
"Oh yes, you are the guilty one, and Rose aided you because she was loyal to you. That, now, I honor." Elijah stopped directly in front of Trevor. "Where was your loyalty?"
"I beg your forgiveness." Trevor's voice was so hushed, Mallorie almost couldn't hear it.
Elijah cocked his head to the side. "So granted."
In one clean chop, Elijah cut Trevor's head off with his hand. Rose cried out in agony from the steps. She leaned forward onto the railing and clutched her chest. Mallorie felt horror course through her body. It felt like she was a part of a movie that she couldn't escape.
Rose marched toward Elijah. "You--"
"Don't." Elijah fiddled with the cuff of his shirt sleeve. "Rose, now that you are free." He walked toward Mallorie. "Come."
"What about the moonstone?" Mallorie choked out.
Elijah stopped in his tracks. "What do you know about the moonstone?"
Mallorie looked into his dark eyes once more. "I know that you need it, and I know where it is."
Elijah nodded once. "Yes?"
"I can help you get it." Mallorie felt her nerves settling again.
"Tell me where it is." One of Elijah's brows hopped with excitement.
Mallorie shook her head. "It doesn't work that way."
"Are you negotiating with me?" Elijah grinned and looked at Rose.
"It's the first I've heard of it," Rose said with tears threatening to spill out of her eyes at any moment.
Elijah stepped in front of Mallorie, blocking her view of Rose. Mallorie watched as his pupils began to grow and shrink. He was trying to compel her. Without any trouble, Mallorie broke his gaze.
"What is this vervain doing there?" Elijah ripped off her necklace and threw it away from her. He grabbed her hair and pulled her head toward his so she had to look at him. "Tell me where the moonstone is."
"In the tomb, underneath the church ruins." Mallorie felt the words leaving her mouth, but it sounded like someone else was speaking.
"What is it doing there?" Elijah asked.
