AFTER ALMOST A WEEK OF BEING BACK HOME, I was almost fed up with my neighbours. I'd finished digging up my mother's long lost necklace and returning it to her - she yelled - my neighbours, yet again ambushed me with a water hose. I was now dripping wet with my cousins laughing at me. They were just as bad as my neighbours.

Sneaky little brats they were.

No, I didn't live with my cousins, thank God for that. Declan was the oldest out of all of them, him being twenty or so, and since he's not that responsible and is a kid himself, he drove all of his siblings here on occasion for me and my mom to take care.

I made it sound like he had like seven siblings but he only had two, a little sister and a little brother. His sister was calm, but God, she is on a whole different level of annoying when she wanted to be. His brother. . . Just like him; mischievous and charming.

Declan was like that older brother that I never had to me, too. But sometimes, I wished he's just disappear into thin air.

I rolled my eyes at Declan and stomped straight up to my room, water dripping from my hair. I banged my door shut to make sure they got the message.

I took a long, peaceful shower and finally stepped out, putting my dirty and wet clothes in the washer. Since it was hot, like always in Florida, I wore a red shirt, my usual shorts and paired it up with sneakers. I pulled my hair up in a ponytail and took out a few of my baby hairs. I put on a little lip gloss, popped my lips and was ready to go.

With my phone in hand, I opened the door once more only to meet my annoying cousin - well one of my annoying cousins, Declan. Why was he everywhere?

"Ava," he leaned against the door frame. "Where you going?" He asked, nervously, and I could already tell he was up to something.

"To meet Lillian." I lied, coolly. He nodded in understanding, when in reality I'm sure he forgot who Lillian was. "Got any problem with that?"

"Um no, can I, uh, give you a ride?" He scratched the back of his neck and gave a nervous laugh. I sighed, knowing what this was about.

I looked up, his 6'1 figure towering above my 5'7. "Did mom tell you to take care of Zander and Hailey?"

"Yeah. . ." He trailed off, taking a step back to look at his surroundings. I nodded, knowing what he was going through.

I immediately ran past him, knowing she was going to tell me to take care of them next. As cousins, Declan immediately caught my drift and started running after me. We made it past the door safely, but not before we heard my mother yelling.

"Ava! Declan!" She yelled loud enough for us to hear.

"Go! Go! Go!" Declan and I hopped in his car fast. He immediately put the engines to life and started reversing out of his parked spot. My mother came out all dressed up with Zander and Hailey behind her. The thirteen and eleven year olds glared at their elder brother, probably because they didn't want to be left with my mother.

My mother gave us one last dirty look before shaking her head and stepping back into the house.

Zander and Hailey had every chance to go over to a friend's house, but knowing Declan's over protective mother, she probably didn't trust any of the other parents to take proper care of her children.

Within ten minutes, we were at Ben's Icecream Parlour. A place where I'd longed to be for so long.

"You're meeting Geo-" he immediately cut himself off, my guess was that he forgot her name, even though Lillian is the only other person I've ever really talked to. "Your friend here? Can I tag along?"
